Role Overview

We are seeking a qualified, experienced candidate to support new project work with a primary focus on elements of civil and structural design. The Civil/ Structural Engineer is responsible for leading the design and analysis of civil and structural engineering products. This individual will use their expertise in structural engineering principles and practices to support development of innovative solutions for a wide range of projects, including support structures, concrete foundations, and enclosure design. The Civil / Structural Engineer will work closely with a team of engineers and technical staff to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with applicable codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities         Perform, and review engineering design and structural analysis for steel structures and concrete foundations
  • Collect, review, interpret, and integrate design requirements from customers, suppliers, and the parent company
  • Prepare and review engineering technical requirements to support the overall project proposal and bid strategy
  • Review customer specifications and prepare technical clarifications and deviations
  • Prepare and review budgets, bids, technical requirements, and commercial requirements
  • Plan and review deliverable schedules, including project documentation and equipment
  • Work with suppliers to develop budgets and pricing estimates
  • Ensure arrangement and foundation interface information meets requirements
  • Interface with internal and external teams to ensure that design interface information for structural commodities is accurate and properly accounted for 
  • Establish corrective actions to reduce nonconformances and improve quality
  • Represent the company in meetings with clients and other stakeholders
  • Complete projects on time, in budget, and in accordance with applicable codes and standards

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (BS) in Civil Engineering required. A minimum of 5 years of work experience in a related engineering field. Licensed Professional Engineer is preferred, particularly those with experience in gas turbine design, auxiliary systems, nuclear engineering, or foundations for rotating equipment.
  • Strong familiarity with ASCE 7, IBC, AISC 360, ACI 318, OSHA, and industry standards. Familiarity with AISC 341, ACI 351, DIN 4024, ISO 1940 is a plus. 
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, thermodynamics, and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills: Fluent in MS Office applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Acrobat Writer, Excel, etc).  Knowledge of databases, project management, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.
  • Travel - 10%

 

Software Experience Desired

      • Smart Plant 3D/ Revit: Familiarity with concepts fundamental to creation of integrated design in a 3D environment and extraction of technical detail is desired.
      • STAAD/ SAP2000/ GT Strudl: Familiarity with Structural Design tools is desired.
      • AutoCAD/ MicroStation: Familiarity with 2D CAD drafting tools is desired.
