Job description

Senior Health System Specialist

Gritter Francona is looking for a Senior Health System Specialist to provide senior-level operational, strategic, and technical leadership supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Electronic Health Record (EHR) modernization initiatives. This position directly supports VHA's mission to deliver timely, accessible, and high-quality care to Veterans by ensuring the Oracle Health Millennium EHR functions safely, reliably, and efficiently throughout Go-Live stabilization, Post Go-Live (PGL) performance recovery, and ongoing operational support.

The Senior Health System Specialist provides enterprise-level health system expertise that extends beyond traditional clinical informatics. The role addresses operational, policy, governance, and cross-functional health system requirements that support VHA EHR modernization efforts and enterprise operations. Works collaboratively with clinical informaticists, program leadership, technical teams, and VA stakeholders to ensure continuity of clinical operations, patient safety, and successful implementation of EHR initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide senior operational and strategic support for VHA EHR modernization programs, including Go-Live surge support, Post Go-Live stabilization, performance recovery, and ongoing operational initiatives.
  • Support enterprise efforts that ensure uninterrupted clinical operations, including medication ordering, clinical documentation, laboratory and diagnostic results reporting, and Clinical Decision Support (CDS) functionality.
  • Serve as a senior advisor on health system operations, policy implementation, governance, and organizational change related to Oracle Health Millennium deployment and optimization.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to a team of clinical informaticists supporting enterprise EHR initiatives.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities among clinical, operational, technical, and executive stakeholders to resolve complex system and workflow issues.
  • Apply project management methodologies and change management principles to support enterprise initiatives, organizational readiness, and implementation activities.
  • Analyze operational requirements and recommend process improvements that enhance system performance, clinical workflows, and patient safety.
  • Utilize extensive knowledge of VA databases, enterprise applications, and their interrelationships to support ongoing development, enhancement, and optimization of the VA informatics environment.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and support operational decision-making across multiple EHR initiatives.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for operational planning, enterprise governance activities, performance monitoring, and strategic initiatives supporting VHA priorities.
  • Develop executive-level reports, briefings, recommendations, and documentation supporting program objectives and organizational decision-making.
  • Ensure all activities align with VHA policies, regulatory requirements, and enterprise operational objectives.
