Job description

Under the direction of the Station Manager, the Supervisor assists in managing the day-to-day field primary and remedial cementing operations on location and at the shop. This position is considered to be a safety-sensitive position. This role encompasses two levels of seniority based on skillset and experience, outlined below.

Supervisor 1

The Supervisor 1 position has existing experience in the oil and gas cementing industry as a supervisor and in operating pumpers but is new to Magnum and still learning our more complex units and job types. This role must be able to competently operate at least one of Magnum’s unit types, as well as able to competently supervise basic jobs on their own.

 

Supervisor 2

The Supervisor 2 position is a senior field position awarded to Supervisors who have a proven track record with Magnum of competently and successfully running complex jobs independently and mentoring others. This role must be able to competently operate at least two of Magnum's unit types, as well as signed off on competently supervising all job types that Magnum undertakes. This role is also responsible for mentoring current and aspiring Supervisors.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

All Supervisors

  • Manage and mentor personnel, equipment and materials to ensure they arrive at location on time.
  • Execute successful cementing jobs according to design/client specification; understand rigging in/out procedures.
  • Ensure efficient handling of day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure critical tasks are completed on every cementing job, including but not limited to measuring the density of cement using a pressurized scale, collecting samples, utilizing radios on location, blowing down all units and P-tanks after every job.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internally with other departments, including Sales and Dispatch.
  • Work with station management to maintain operation and service standards and assist in leadership of the Station.
  • Evaluate Bulk Drivers and Operators on weekly maintenance requirements and equipment rebuilding.
  • Adhere to and enforce company Safety policies and ensure compliance with HSE legislation.
  • Prepare end of well, end of month, incident, abnormalities, maintenance, logbook, and end of jobs tickets and reports, or other reporting, as required.
  • Verify load tickets and conduct / participate in incident reporting.
  • Implement and maintain procedures to ensure high level of service.
  • Develop and maintain strong external/internal client relationships in support of company values and objectives.
  • Work with management to improve policy and procedures.

Specific to Supervisor 1’s

  • Supervise a crew on basic remedial jobs.
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate any two of the core pieces of equipment.
  • Complete Supervisor 1 sections of MAP (Magnum’s internal competency evaluation program).

Specific to Supervisor 2’s

  • Supervise a crew on any primary, remedial and pump job that Magnum undertakes.
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate any four of the core pieces of equipment.
  • Train and mentor current and aspiring Supervisor 1’s.
  • Complete Supervisor 1 and 2 sections of MAP (Magnum’s internal competency evaluation program).

General

  • Participate in training and development activities.
  • Other general duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Required

  • Valid class 1 (Canada) / class A CDL (U.S.) driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience as an oil and gas cementing supervisor and in operating pumpers.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct and motivate the work of others.
  • Physically capable of moving/lifting heavy objects up to 23 kg., bending, standing, gripping, sitting/driving, walking, and climbing repeatedly for extended periods.
  • Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time and in all types of weather conditions.
  • Able to be on call 24 hours on 15 days on 6 days off rotational schedule, always remaining fit for duty (subject to change due to market conditions).
  • Able to work in congested or confined areas, and with exposure to loud noises and vibration.
  • Legally eligible to work in the country the role is based out of.

Looking For

  • Good computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office and other software, as required.
