Job description

NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking an experienced Special Inspector to join our Norcross, GA team. This is a field-focused role responsible for performing code-required inspections on commercial, municipal, and infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable building codes.

This opportunity is ideal for a highly certified inspector with multiple ICC credentials who is looking to play a key role on complex projects, work independently in the field, and serve as a trusted technical resource for clients and project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform special inspections in accordance with applicable building codes and project requirements, including: Structural steel, bolting, and welding; Reinforced concrete; Soils and foundations; Structural masonry
  • Verify construction complies with approved plans, specifications, and code requirements
  • Interpret building codes, construction documents, and engineering details
  • Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely inspection reports
  • Communicate inspection findings and coordinate with contractors, engineers, and clients
  • Serve as a technical resource on job sites, helping resolve inspection and compliance issues
  • Maintain proper documentation to support code compliance and project closeout
  • Adhere to all company and project safety standards

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate or technical degree preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in special inspections and/or construction inspections
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, inspection procedures, and construction practices
  • Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in the field
  • Ability to work outdoors on active construction sites in varying conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Required Certifications:

  • Multiple active ICC certifications are required, such as: Soils, Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Structural Steel & Bolting, Welding

Preferred Certifications:

  • Master of Special Inspections (MSI) (highly preferred)
  • Additional ICC certifications beyond the core disciplines listed above
