About the role

The Nuclear Company is seeking a Construction Manager to provide field leadership and day-to-day oversight for major nuclear construction projects. Reporting to the Senior Director of Construction, this role serves as a trusted partner and extension of construction leadership, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements, contractual obligations, and quality standards.

This is a highly collaborative role for an experienced construction professional who enjoys being in the field, solving problems, building relationships, and helping teams succeed. You will coordinate contractors, support project execution, monitor subcontractor performance, and serve as a key liaison between construction management, engineering, project controls, quality, and craft teams.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical construction experience with exceptional interpersonal skills. We're looking for someone who leads through partnership, develops trust quickly, coaches others, communicates with empathy, and creates an environment where people can perform at their best.

Responsibilities

Construction Execution

  • Provide daily field oversight of construction activities across assigned project scopes.
  • Monitor contractor and subcontractor performance to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications.
  • Identify execution risks early and work collaboratively with project teams to develop practical solutions.
  • Coordinate construction activities with integrated project teams.
  • Support startup planning, turnover activities, punch list completion, and project closeout.ย 

Subcontract & Contract Management

  • Provide oversight of subcontractor execution, ensuring compliance with Statements of Work (SOW), contracts, technical requirements, and project expectations.
  • Monitor contractor productivity, staffing, schedule performance, and quality of work.
  • Participate in scope reviews, change management, field issue resolution, and contractor coordination meetings.
  • Support contract administration, progress verification, and field acceptance activities.
  • Work closely with Project Controls to monitor integrated schedule, cost, earned progress, and execution metrics.
  • Escalate execution risks, contractual issues, or performance concerns as appropriate.
  • Facilitate issue resolution and cross-functional communication.ย 

Field Leadership

  • Build strong working relationships across contractors, craft personnel, engineers, inspectors, and project leadership.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, and accountable construction culture.
  • Champion a strong nuclear safety culture and reinforce Human Performance principles.
  • Mentor junior construction professionals and support their technical and professional development.
  • Help resolve field conflicts through communication, collaboration, and practical problem-solving.

AI & Technology

  • Leverage AI-powered tools and digital construction platforms to improve field reporting, documentation, schedule management, issue tracking, constraint mitigation and contractor coordination.
  • Utilize construction analytics and digital dashboards to proactively identify execution trends, risks, and opportunities for improved performance.
  • Support the continued evolution of The Nuclear Company's Nuclear Operating System (NOS) through automation and technology-enabled construction practices.

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 15+ years of construction, field engineering, project management, or construction oversight experience on large industrial, energy, infrastructure, or nuclear projects.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing subcontractors and managing field execution.
  • Experience interpreting and administering Statements of Work (SOWs), technical specifications, construction packages, and contract requirements.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and project execution.
  • Experience coordinating multiple contractors across complex project environments.
  • Working knowledge of project controls, scheduling, cost management, or construction reporting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively to project sites.

Preferred Experience

  • Nuclear industry construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience serving as a Subcontract Technical Representative (STR), Contract Technical Representative (CTR), Owner's Representative, Resident Engineer, or similar field oversight role.
  • Experience supporting EPC contractors or owner-led construction organizations.
  • Familiarity with ASME Section III, NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, and related nuclear quality standards.
  • Knowledge of NRC regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Procore, or similar construction management platforms.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials.
  • OSHA 30 or equivalent construction safety certification.

Estimated Starting Salary Range
The estimated starting salary range for this role is $150,000 - $173,000 annually less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a bi-weekly basis. The actual salary offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined in the Company's discretion, which may include experience, qualifications, tenure, skill set, availability of qualified candidates, geographic location, certifications held, and other criteria deemed pertinent to the particular role.ย
