Position Overview - Certified Welding Inspector

We're seeking AWS Certified Welding Inspectors (CWIs) to support our growing pipeline of infrastructure and structural projects. In this role, you'll perform inspections across NY/NJ job sites and contribute to the ongoing development of welding quality assurance processes at AEIS.


What You'll Do

Quality Assurance & Inspection

  • Perform visual and destructive weld inspections to ensure compliance with AWS D1.1/D1.5, ASME, and DOT standards.
  • Monitor welding operations and ensure procedures and personnel are qualified.
  • Identify and document weld defects and non-conformities.
  • Conduct MT and UT inspections where certified.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate inspection records and generate professional reports using our proprietary software, designed to report welding and NDT inspections.
  • Verify and review WPSs, PQRs, and Welder Certifications.
  • Contribute to quality documentation systems.

Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Work closely with project managers, welding engineers, and NDT staff.
  • Participate in process optimization reviews and corrective action reports.


What We're Looking For

Must Haves

  • AWS CWI Certification (Active)
  • 1-10 years of hands-on structural welding inspection experience
  • Strong communication skills in English (spoken & written)
  • Basic math and technical documentation skills
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and construction plans
  • Willingness to travel to project sites throughout NY and NJ


Bonus Points

  • MT and UT certifications (Level I/II)
  • Experience with bolting inspections
  • Familiarity with ASME standards
  • Experience working on DOT or public infrastructure projects
