Job description

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Senior Bridge Project Manager in the below posting location. In this role, you will lead and manage structural bridge and transportation projects from initial planning through completion, overseeing project budgets, schedules, quality control, and technical execution. You will provide leadership and mentorship to developing engineers while serving as a technical reviewer and advisor on bridge inspection, rehabilitation, and design projects.

What You'll Do:
  • Responsible for Project Management, including cost control, project budget control, and quality assurance & quality control.
  • Direct and manage the budgeting and execution of projects including the supervision of assigned staff and subcontractors.
  • Mentor and direct the advancement of technical and non-technical skills of developing structural engineers.
  • Contribute to structural design work as a technical reviewer or advisor for Inspection program, Phase I and Phase II work.
  • Adhere to and ensure the team adheres to internal procedures for quality control, documentation and project tracking.
  • Field investigations, inspections, and repair recommendations
  • Identify opportunities and lead strategic project pursuits
  • Type studies, structural designs, quantity calculation and construction cost estimating, load rating, etc..
  • Participate in Business Development and Marketing, including networking, preparation of SOQ's, proposals, and contracts.

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or equivalent, a Masters in structural engineering preferred
  • At least 12+ years of professional experience in bridge design or structural design in transportation or highways project
  • PE license is required for IL. SE license is preferred for IL.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Experience working on structural bridge design and inspection projects in Illinois.
  • Proven experience working with the IDOT, and ISTHA. Experience working with IL Local Agencies a plus
  • Familiarity with Bentley products, and bridge design software such as CSI Bridge, STAAD Pro, OpenBridge Design, AASHTOWARE Bridge Rating, MDX, etc...
  • Strong organization and leadership skills with a track record for adhering to budgets, schedules, and contractual requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and develop task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner.
