Senior Big Data Engineer (AWS EMR & Spark)
Location: Alpharetta, GA (willing to travel to client locations)
Employment Type: Full-Time (W2)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Big Data Engineer to design and implement large-scale data solutions using AWS EMR and Spark. This role focuses on building efficient ETL processes and data pipelines to support enterprise analytics and insights.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop scalable data pipelines using AWS EMR and Apache Spark for processing large datasets.
  • Implement ETL workflows to transform and integrate data from various sources into actionable insights.
  • Optimize Spark jobs on AWS EMR clusters for performance, cost-efficiency, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with data analysts and scientists to support advanced analytics and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure data quality, security, and compliance throughout the data lifecycle in cloud environments.
  • Troubleshoot and monitor EMR clusters to maintain high availability and performance under heavy workloads.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3 years of experience as a Big Data Engineer with expertise in AWS EMR and Spark.
  • Proficiency in building and optimizing ETL processes and data pipelines for large-scale datasets.
  • Strong understanding of distributed computing principles and big data architectures.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services for data storage and processing (e.g., S3, Glue).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with advanced AWS services like AWS Redshift or Lambda for integrated data workflows.
  • Exposure to data lake architectures and tools like Delta Lake for enhanced data management.
