Sterling Engineering is seeking an Automation and PLC Senior Engineer to design, develop, and implement advanced automation solutions that improve manufacturing processes, workflows, and system performance. This role involves hands-on PLC programming, robotics integration, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to identify and execute automation opportunities. The ideal candidate will also contribute to innovation strategy and present technical solutions to senior leadership.

Job Duties:
• Design, develop, and implement automation solutions to streamline internal processes and workflows
• Build prototypes and proof-of-concepts for new tools, systems, and technologies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, and operations to identify automation opportunities
• Develop PLC logic and robotic programs
• Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies into automation systems
• Monitor, maintain, and optimize automation systems for performance and reliability
• Document systems, processes, and best practices for scalability and knowledge sharing
• Contribute to innovation strategy by identifying new areas where automation can create value
• Present concepts, findings, and proof-of-concept results to senior leadership

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required in engineering or related field
• 5+ years of experience programming industrial automated equipment
• Strong experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming
