We are SLR Consulting (Americas), a 1500+ team of advisory, environmental, engineering, and regulatory professionals across Canada, the United States, and LATAM. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. We are Making Sustainability Happen. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Air Quality Engineer or Scientist to join our expanding Air Quality Permitting and Compliance Team in Anchorage, Alaska. Preference will be given to candidates who reside in or are willing to relocate to Anchorage. This full-time position offers a dynamic range of responsibilities, requiring adaptability and a broad skill set. It presents an exciting opportunity to contribute technical expertise to complex air quality permitting projects across industries such as oil & gas, mining, chemical, energy, and other industrial sectors—both within Alaska and across the United States. Technical Experience Required:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, Chemistry, or a closely related scientific field
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in air quality consulting or related disciplines
  • Strong understanding of State of Alaska and Federal air quality regulations, including Title V, PSD, GHG and Emissions Inventory Reporting, NSPS, and NESHAP
  • Proven experience supporting clients in maintaining compliance with applicable air quality programs and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment, managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality work
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and multitasking abilities
  • Demonstrated experience solving environmental challenges, calculating air emissions, and interpreting complex regulations
  • Strong technical writing skills, with a track record of producing comprehensive technical reports
  • Experience engaging with State and Federal regulatory agencies
  • Effective time management across multiple project tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel by air and car, including occasional overnight trips

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to SLR and client-specific health, safety, and environmental policies including compliance with drug and alcohol requirements
  • Support air quality permitting, compliance reporting, and field data collection activities under the guidance of a Principal or Senior Project Manager
  • Collaborate with project team members to develop, review, and de- liver permit applications and technical reports
  • Mentor junior staff and foster skill development within the team
  • Learn and apply compliance reporting software tools effectively
  • Provide technical expertise on regulatory frameworks, engineering approaches and investigative method relevant to project work. Assist clients in implementing and managing air quality compliance programs
  • Prepare proposals and present technical solutions to a diverse client base
  • Build and maintain client relationships through consistent delivery of high-quality technical work
  • Participate in short-duration travel for client meetings and project-related activities
