Job description

Assistant Project Manager

South Coast Improvement Company (SCIC) is a dynamic, success-driven commercial construction management firm seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our growing team. Our employees take pride in delivering high-quality construction projects on time and within budget, resulting in long-term client relationships and an industry-leading 85% repeat business rate.

We specialize in commercial renovation projects and have built strong relationships with respected institutions and some of the largest providers of senior living and affordable housing along the East Coast. This position works out of our headquarters in Marion, MA.

Position Summary

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) works closely with our Project Managers and Site Superintendents to support the successful execution of a portfolio of commercial construction projects from preconstruction handoff through project closeout.

The APM plays an important role in project administration, document control, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, billing, and communication. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and committed to providing a high level of service to both our project teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities

•  Manage project administration from preconstruction handoff through project closeout.

•  Utilize Procore daily to maintain project documentation and workflows.

•  Review and develop an understanding of project drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

•  Support project site setup in coordination with the Project Manager and Site Superintendent, including signage, dumpsters, safety fencing, storage, and related requirements.

•  Attend weekly project meetings and prepare detailed meeting minutes for distribution to the project team.

•  Assist with preparation of project meeting agendas as needed.

•  Draft, submit, track, and distribute Requests for Information (RFIs).

•  Maintain and manage project logs, including RFIs, submittals, and potential change orders and procurement.

•  Collect subcontractor change requests for Project Manager review.

•  Review and code project invoices with Project Manager.

•  Prepare and submit monthly payment applications in AIA format.

•  Assist with managing and completing project punch lists and closeout activities.

•  Work closely with Site Superintendents to support day-to-day project execution.

•  Maintain positive, professional relationships with clients, subcontractors, and project partners.

•  Communicate effectively with both internal and external project stakeholders.

•  Balance client needs with SCIC project and business objectives.

 

•  Commercial construction or construction management experience preferred.

•  Experience with AIA billing.

•  Experience using Procore.

•  Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat.

•  Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and spreadsheets.

•  Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.

•  Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

•  Strong written and verbal communication skills.

•  Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines effectively.

•  Ability to work collaboratively with Project Managers, Site Superintendents, subcontractors, clients, and design professionals.

Requirements

•  Valid driver's license required.

•  Ability to reliably report to our Marion, MA headquarters and travel to project sites as required.

•  Successful completion of a pre-employment background check is required.
