The opportunity

The IT Application Developer's, primary focus is to support and help develop distribution related Reporting, perform change management tasks to promote program changes into multiple environments and develop labels and shipping documentation. The IT Application Developer will work closely with IT and business resources in the head office and global distribution centers. The mandate will include documenting, analyzing, and resolving production reporting issues; developing new reporting solutions, testing, and implementing initiatives to support our business customers.

This position will be based in the Montreal Corporate office reporting directly to the Sr. Manager, IT Applications, Distribution

The role

  • Follow-up Incidents assigned to the Distribution team pertaining to reporting requests.
  • Deploy new development using Change Management tool from test to production WMS systems.
  • Maintain security in reporting software.
  • Work with the business to define and document technical specifications and then develop new reports or make changes to existing reports.
  • Follow Gildan software development life cycle (SDLC) methodology and standards for the programming and documentation.
  • As the development skills improve with internal training, and the knowledge of Gildan business processes progress, the development of labels and distribution documents will be added to the list of responsibilities

The requirements

  • At least Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Engineering from a reputed public or private university.
  • Minimum of 5 year experience as a Programmer or as a Technical Support with a development background.
  • Knowledge of a WMS is important (Manhattan Associates - WMi is an asset)
  • Knowledge of IBM's AS400 platform and RPG programming tool is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Cognos reporting tools (SCI - Supply Chain Intelligence is an asset)
  • Knowledge of Change Management software (Turnover by Soft Landing is an asset)
  • Experience working in a complex global environment.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills using a systematic approach.
  • Capacity to understand and evaluate priorities and urgencies.
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills with a desire to collaborate and share with others.
  • Meticulous and thorough in completion of tasks.
  • Ability to create clear and concise technical documents.
  • Ability and desire to understand the system architecture, and business processes. Willing to learn new technologies.
  • Experience with MS productivity tools a must
  • Experience with Smartsheet and SharePoint (Asset)
  • Excellent written and oral skills in English.
  • This position requires proficiency in a language other than French to support customers, employees or markets located outside the province of Quebec or requiring services in a language other than French - mainly English.
