This Position reports to:

Portfolio and Solutions Manager for AMR

In this role, you will help scale ABB's Autonomous Manipulative Mobile Robotics (AMMR) technology across global customer applications. Working at the intersection of product development, customer operations, and solution delivery, you will transform innovative robotics technology into robust, repeatable, and commercially successful solutions.

This is a unique opportunity to influence the evolution of a breakthrough robotics offering, working closely with customers, Product Management, and R&D to shape the future of autonomous mobile manipulation.

This is a global role.

The work model for the role is: hybrid; #LI-hybrid.

Your responsibilities:

  • Define and drive the validation, verification, and technology readiness strategy for AMMR solutions, including KPIs, acceptance criteria, and deployment milestones from pilot to commercial scale.

  • Own the technical success of AMMR pilots and early deployments, leading troubleshooting, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement activities.

  • Develop and maintain reference architectures, solution templates, and engineering standards for AMMR applications across key market segments.

  • Translate customer requirements into scalable solution concepts, system specifications, and interface definitions, ensuring feasibility, performance, safety, and repeatability.

  • Drive the development of new applications and solution variants through structured feedback to Product Management and R&D, accelerating product maturity and adoption.

  • Act as the primary technical interface between Product Management, R&D, Global and Local Engineering teams, and customers, enabling successful deployments through best practices, documentation, and training.

  • Lead and mentor AMMR Application Engineers, promoting engineering excellence, standardization, and reuse of validated solutions.

Qualifications for the role:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Automation, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 8+ years of experience in robotics, industrial automation, autonomous systems, or complex electromechanical products, with a background in application engineering, systems engineering, solution architecture, or technical project delivery.

  • Proven ability to translate customer requirements into scalable technical solutions, including system architectures, interface definitions, and deployment concepts.

  • Strong systems engineering mindset with hands-on experience integrating robotic systems, controls, software, safety systems, and industrial IT/OT environments.

  • Experience supporting pilots, proof-of-concepts, and early product deployments, including validation, troubleshooting, and performance assessment.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across Product Management, R&D, engineering, operations, and customer teams, providing technical leadership and mentoring where required.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with willingness to travel up to 50% to support deployments, commissioning, testing, and validation activities.
