The Opportunity:
  • Lead application development on a fast-paced Agile team building mission-critical GEOINT applications for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA).
  • Design and deliver modern web-based capabilities that analysts use to drive intelligence decisions.
  • Set the technical bar for a team of developers working across cloud-native architectures and large-scale data environments.
  • See your work deployed to real mission users with rapid feedback loops.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead design, development, testing, and deployment of web applications using Java and/or Python.
  • Architect application features, APIs, and integrations across program services and external systems.
  • Develop and maintain GIS-enabled application capabilities and geospatial services.
  • Drive code quality through code reviews, unit testing, and secure coding practices.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues and lead performance tuning across the application stack.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver PI commitments.
  • Mentor mid-level and junior developers and contribute to engineering standards.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline (equivalent experience accepted).
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Expert-level development in Java, Python, or both, including modern web frameworks.
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and service-based architectures.
  • Strong experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience with CI/CD, Git-based workflows, and automated testing.
  • Security Clearance (TS/SCI) with willingness to undergo polygraph examination.

Desired:
  • Experience with GIS technologies (ArcGIS, GeoServer, OpenLayers, Cesium, or similar).
  • Experience with containerization and cloud deployment (Kubernetes, AWS/C2S).
  • Experience operating within SAFe or Agile delivery frameworks.
  • Experience using geospatial software such as Esri ArcGIS Pro / ArcGIS Enterprise and related APIs.
