Job description

Job Description
About the Role
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to own and advance serviceability for our in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) and Vehicle Compute Unit (VCU) platform. You will focus on dealership support and field quality: debugging complex VCU issues, driving technical root cause from warranty and diagnostic data, and implementing features that make the platform easier to diagnose, repair, and support.
You'll work hands-on in the infotainment/VCU software stack - from platform middleware and diagnostics frameworks to dealer-facing workflows and backend automation - while partnering closely with vehicle platform teams, field quality, and dealer support organizations.
What You'll Do
  • Lead deep technical debugging of IVI/VCU issues seen in the field, including reproduction, log and trace analysis, and cross-team root-cause investigations.
  • Devise reproducible bench setups, repositories, and automated test cases for field issues, and drive closure of testing omissions by extending coverage and driving closure with the quality team.
  • Analyze warranty reports, diagnostic logs, and telemetry to identify systemic issues, patterns, and opportunities to improve reliability and serviceability.
  • Design and implement diagnosability and serviceability features in the IVI/VCU stack (for example, structured logging, health monitoring, fault injection hooks, self-test and guided-diagnostics capabilities).
  • Collaborate with dealer support, field quality, and internal tooling teams to improve workflows for technicians and support engineers, including enhancements to diagnostic UIs, troubleshooting flows, and repair guidance.
  • Build and evolve automation and AI-assisted diagnostics for the VCU: correlating symptoms, DTCs, and warranty data to accelerate fault isolation and recommended fixes.
  • Define and enforce engineering standards for observability, fault reporting, error handling, and debugability across the IVI/VCU software components.
  • Partner with adjacent domain teams (connectivity, telematics, cloud, vehicle platform) to ensure serviceability requirements are reflected in interfaces, protocols, and integration contracts.
  • Serve as a go-to technical expert for VCU serviceability, mentoring engineers on best practices for diagnosable system design and effective field-issue triage.
What You Bring
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience in automotive or embedded systems, with significant time spent in infotainment/IVI or VCU development.
  • Strong C++ skills in resource-constrained, real-time, or embedded environments; solid Python for tooling, data analysis, and automation around diagnostics and warranty data.
  • Practical experience with automotive platforms and middleware (for example, Android Automotive OS, embedded Linux, QNX, AUTOSAR Adaptive, SOME/IP, DDS, or similar).
  • Deep understanding of vehicle software integration and diagnostics: CAN, Automotive Ethernet, diagnostics protocols (for example, UDS), ECU communication patterns, and vehicle signal architectures.
  • Demonstrated experience debugging complex, intermittent field issues end-to-end, including log/trace analysis, on-bench reproduction, and cross-team investigation.
  • Experience shipping production software into vehicles within OEM release processes and automotive lifecycles.
  • Proven ability to lead technically within a team - driving investigation plans, coordinating across stakeholders, and helping other engineers grow their debugging and serviceability skills.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with dealer or technician diagnostic tools, service workflows, or field quality engineering.
  • Experience with graphics/HMI stacks or IVI user flows, especially where they intersect with error handling, fault indication, or technician-facing modes.
  • Familiarity with connectivity and telematics systems used for remote diagnostics and data collection.
  • Exposure to OTA update systems, cybersecurity (ISO 21434), or SDV (software-defined vehicle) architectures and how they impact serviceability.
  • Experience building data and automation pipelines for diagnostics and AI/ML-assisted troubleshooting (for example, fault classification, symptom clustering, recommendation systems).
