Job Description:


In the role of โ€œfield process engineerโ€, you are responsible for the process qualification and technical acceptance of our (MO)CVD semiconductor equipment at our customerโ€™s sites. You will also serve as a liaison between customers and all components of the company throughout the acceptance process. After technical acceptance of the semiconductor equipment, the Field Process Engineer offers support in the process optimization and maintenance of the equipment as well as the customer training on semiconductor equipment and process related topics. Finally, the position is responsible for maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction while representing the interests of the company.


Responsibilities:



  • Implement equipment (semiconductor) process recipes and process parameters according to customer specifications

  • Provide sustainable process support at selected key and strategic customers

  • Coordinate customer sample evaluations on various AIXTRON equipment located at customer sites and/or application labs

  • Define and describe equipment process performance specifications for customer applications by evaluating customer process methods, facilities, materials, patterns, measurement equipment and procedures.

  • Provide support for sales department including demonstrations and information on technical and design issues

  • Assists with the installation, technical system check, and commissioning of equipment (if necessary, worldwide)

  • Communicate with customers in order to analyze specific needs and requirements within the after sales operations

  • Take part in providing customers with a 24 by 7 service support coverage

  • Reporting and documentation of failures, design issues, etc. and follow up on solution findings and validation

  • Analysis of problems resulting from customer requests

  • Documentation of customer contacts, project related files, technical and process information/solutions, etc

  • Provide information on process improvements to headquarters

  • Ensure the proper function/condition of all personal tools and safety equipment

  • Remain current with technology, training, and new components installed in equipment

  • Work includes exposure to hazardous chemicals; handling of hazardous chemicals must be performed according to safety procedures. Errors may result in an accident, causing serious injury or death to Employee or others

  • Train less experienced employees and customer representatives on equipment operation and maintenance

  • Other duties as assigned.


Physical Demands:



  • Frequent standing; occasional bending and squatting

  • Might be requested to work off-hours, including weekends, up to 12-hour shifts and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to participate in clean room contamination exposure prevention requirements, such as wearing appropriate apparatus (SCBA), etc.


Qualifications/Requirements:



  • BS, MS/ME, or Ph.D Degree in Chemistry, Physics, or Electrical/Materials Engineering

  • 5+ Years of experience in (metal organic) chemical vapor deposition (MO)CVD Technology/Process or related semiconductor processing is highly desirable

  • 5+ Years of experience in compound semiconductor materials or related semiconductor/device characterization techniques is a plus

  • Demonstrated proficiency in using statistical analysis programs for gathering and analyzing process data related to equipment performance specifications.

  • Ability to write formal reports to document field activities

  • Ability to make technical presentations in front of customers

  • Ability to learn semiconductor processing to assist customers with integration

  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a variety of personnel such as Manufacturing, Systems Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Support

  • Ability to exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions

  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative to deal with customers and to analyze and solve process issues

  • Work effectively within a team

  • Must be willing to travel internationally and domestically up to 75% of the time

  • Valid driver's license required
