Project Overview:

Bechtel's Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing, building and commissioning a semiconductor fab in Clay, NY. M&T is an exciting and growing business unit that serves customers in the semiconductor, datacenter, life sciences, and electric vehicle markets. M&T strives to exceed our customer objectives through utilizing our agility, innovative technologies, and world class talent. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's mechanical aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's mechanical aspects are met.

"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership". #LI-ME1

Major Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard mechanical engineeringmethods, techniques, procedures and criteria for a small size project or assignment insupport of a global business unitor staff group to include the preparation of originaldesigns layouts, details, drawings and specifications
  • Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates mechanical components andprocesses utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), designstandards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
  • Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs,reports or proposals
  • Coordinates mechanical engineering efforts in assigned areas withspecialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor,contractors, construction and other functional groups
  • When delegated, provides guidance to other mechanical engineeringpersonnel for specific tasks or projects
  • Provides technical assistance to other mechanical personnel and willinteract with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agencypersonnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues
  • Provides assistance toproject and construction management inidentifying and complying with project mechanical requirements and inaddressing issues as they arise during project execution
  • Mentors and assists more junior mechanical team members
  • Completes mechanical documentation and procedures for installationand maintenance
  • Selects components and equipment based on analysis ofspecifications and reliability
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:

* Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or college (or international equivalent), with minimum 10 (ten) years of industry experience in Dry / HVAC systems.
* In depth knowledge of equipment packages such as Air Handling Systems, Air Condensing units, Variable Air, Volume Units and Cleanroom Recirculation Air and Exhaust Systems.
* Applicant should be able to identify specific industry and technology experience.
* Good working knowledge of International standard for cleanrooms and associated controlled environments (ISO 14644 1 thru' 14), Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST-RP-CC001, 002, 006, 007, 012, 021, 034) for Cleanrooms and American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), SMACNA and International Mechanical Code (IMC) standards for HVAC and Air Handling Units.
* Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, plant layout, materials, and computers for preparation of analyses and development of project deliverables within the discipline.
* Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, and engineering and design calculations.
* Thorough understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including construction practices and the economics involved.
* Knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines.
* Able to troubleshoot issues in a field or job site setting confidently, and to provide instruction on how to resolve issues identified.
* Demonstrated ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
* Working knowledge of 3D model / BIM with experience in supporting designers with HVAC duct layouts, supports, and controls requirements in Revit and Navisworks.
* Experience in Semiconductor, Pharma or AI Datacenter projects is an added advantage
