Job description

About the Opportunity
The Department of Public Health and Health Sciences is seeking Temporary Part-Time Research Nurses to join a research team conducting studies on risk factors for alcohol misuse in young adults.
Key Responsibilities
Screening Appointments:
  • Conducting medical history interviews
  • Performing ECGs and phlebotomy/blood sample collection
  • Evaluating vital signs including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, respirations, height, weight, and BMI
  • Determining study eligibility
IV Administration Sessions:
  • Preparing IV lines and pumps
  • Preparing participants and connecting them to the IV
  • Monitoring IV pump functioning and assisting with any errors
  • Attending to participant well-being during and after the infusion process
Study tasks involve IV administration of both ethanol and saline.
Qualifications
  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Experience with phlebotomy required
  • Experience working with IVs required
Schedule & Commitment
  • Week-to-week per diem hours available for nurses who work full-time elsewhere
  • Set schedule of up to 20 hours per week available to accommodate parent schedules, semi-retirement, etc.
  • Position may be renewed beyond 6 months pending availability of grant funds
