About the Job- We are looking for an experienced Google Looker/Semantic Layer to join one of our enterprise client engagements. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Cloud Data Warehouses, SQL, LookML along with experience working in fast-paced enterprise environments.

Job Description:

  • We are seeking an Analytics Engineer to design, build, and maintain our enterprise data model using the Google Looker Semantic Layer.
  • You will act as the bridge between raw data engineers and business teams, turning complex datasets into a clean, centralized, and governed Single Source of Truth using LookML.

Core Responsibilities

  • ๐Ÿ—๏ธ Architecture & Modeling
  • Design enterprise-grade LookML models including views, explores, and dashboards.
  • Define standardized business metrics, dimensions, and measures across all departments.
  • Optimize query performance using Looker aggregate awareness and PDTs (Persistent Derived Tables).

๐Ÿ” Governance & Security

  • Implement data security policies within Looker using row-level and column-level access controls.
  • Manage version control and deployment pipelines using Git-based workflows.
  • Ensure data consistency across multiple downstream tools, including Tableau, Power BI, and Google Sheets.

๐Ÿค– AI & Innovation

  • Prepare the semantic layer to ground GenAI agents (like Gemini in Looker) for natural language querying.
  • Document LookML structures extensively to enable self-service analytics for business users.

Technical Requirements

  • LookML Mastery: 3+ years of experience writing advanced, scalable LookML code.
  • SQL Expertise: Advanced SQL proficiency for debugging, optimizing, and data modeling.
  • Cloud Data Warehouses: Hands-on experience with modern data platforms, preferably Google BigQuery.
  • CI/CD Workflows: Strong familiarity with Git version control, branching strategies, and pull requests.
  • BI Integration: Experience connecting Lookerโ€™s semantic layer to external BI tools via the Looker Open SQL Interface.
