POSITION SUMMARY
The Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Manager drives qualified pipeline, ecommerce revenue, and profitable growth through paid search and intent-based channels. This role owns strategy, execution, and optimization across platforms like Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising and LinkedIn focusing on capturing high-intent B2B demand and converting it into measurable outcomes across both lead generation and online sales.
Working across marketing, sales, and ecommerce, the SEM Manager builds full-funnel strategies aligned to complex B2B buying cycles-owning keywords, structure, bidding, ad copy, product feeds, and landing page alignment. This includes optimizing both lead-based conversions (RFQs, sign-ups) and transactional performance (AOV, conversion rate) to improve CPL, revenue, and ROAS.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own end-to-end paid search and intent-based strategy across Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, LinkedIn, and other paid channels to drive pipeline, ecommerce revenue, and profitable growth
- Build, launch, and optimize campaigns across search, shopping, Performance Max, and LinkedIn paid programs to capture high-intent B2B demand
- Manage keyword strategy, audience targeting, account structure, bidding, and budget allocation to maximize ROI and scale efficiently
- Develop and test ad copy, creatives, and messaging aligned to B2B personas (procurement, operations) and product value propositions
- Own product feed optimization (titles, attributes, taxonomy) to improve visibility and performance in shopping campaigns
- Partner with ecommerce and UX teams to optimize landing pages and onsite conversion (CRO), including checkout and product detail pages
- Drive both lead generation (RFQs, quote requests, account sign-ups) and transactional performance (conversion rate, AOV, revenue)
- Monitor and optimize to key KPIs including CPL, ROAS, CAC, pipeline contribution, and revenue
- Leverage audience targeting, remarketing, and account-based strategies to improve conversion rates across the funnel
- Analyze performance data and translate insights into actionable recommendations for marketing, merchandising, and sales
- Ensure accurate tracking and attribution across platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, CRM systems)
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to align SEM and LinkedIn strategies with campaigns, promotions, and ABM initiatives
- Test and scale new opportunities (e.g., new channels, bid strategies, audience segments) to unlock incremental growth
- Manage agency or vendor relationships as needed, ensuring performance accountability and continuous optimization
- Provide regular reporting and executive-ready insights on performance, trends, and growth opportunities
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, Business, Analytics, Computer Science, or related field required; advanced degree a plus
- 5-8+ years of hands-on experience in paid search / performance marketing within B2B and/or ecommerce environments
- Proven success managing and scaling campaigns in Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, and LinkedIn
- Experience driving both lead generation (RFQs, forms) and ecommerce outcomes (revenue, conversion rate, AOV)
- Strong experience integrating media performance with CRM platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce) to measure pipeline and revenue impact
- Advanced expertise in SEM strategy, keyword architecture, bidding algorithms, and audience targeting across search and paid social
- Deep analytical skillset with ability to manipulate and analyze large datasets (Excel, SQL preferred; experience with BI tools)
- Strong understanding of attribution modeling, incrementality testing, and full-funnel performance measurement
- Hands-on experience with tracking frameworks, tagging, and data pipelines (conversion tracking, pixels, offline conversions, APIs)
- Proficiency in Google Analytics (GA4), including event-based tracking, funnel analysis, and audience segmentation
- Ecommerce expertise including product feed optimization, shopping campaigns, and conversion rate optimization
- Ability to connect media performance to business outcomes (CPL, CAC, ROAS, pipeline, revenue) and optimize accordingly
- Experience with A/B testing, experimentation frameworks, and continuous optimization methodologies
- Strong understanding of B2B buying behavior, long sales cycles, and account-based marketing (ABM) strategies
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a bias toward data-driven decision making and continuous improvement
- Effective cross-functional collaboration with marketing, sales, ecommerce, and data/engineering teams
Position Location: The role can be filled either hybrid schedule in Columbus, OH or remote in the vicinity of either Chicago, IL or Charlotte, NC.
Starting Pay: $80,000/yr.
Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and, in some instances, may include education, skills, work experience and certifications. You may also be eligible to participate in an annual incentive bonus. An incentive bonus, if any, depends on various factors such as organizational performance.
