Job description

Company Description Self-employed professionals bring specialized technical expertise directly to clients, offering flexibility, responsiveness, and tailored solutions. This environment enables close collaboration with stakeholders, rapid iteration, and custom software development that aligns with specific project needs. Working in a self-employed context often requires a high level of accountability, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage priorities independently. Candidates can expect a hands-on role with significant influence over technical decisions and implementation details.

Role Description This is an on-site contract role for a Java and React Developer based in Washington, DC. The developer will design, build, and maintain web applications using Java on the back end and React on the front end. Day-to-day tasks include writing clean, maintainable code, implementing RESTful APIs, integrating front-end components with server-side logic, and troubleshooting application issues. The role involves collaborating with clients and stakeholders to gather requirements, refining technical specifications, and participating in code reviews to ensure quality and security. The developer will also optimize application performance, maintain documentation, and support deployments and enhancements throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Java development, including object-oriented programming and building RESTful services.
  • Hands-on experience with React, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks and tooling.
  • Knowledge of web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JSON, and responsive design principles.
  • Experience with software development practices, including version control (e.g., Git), testing, and debugging.
  • Familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases and data modeling concepts.
  • Ability to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical solutions, and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently on-site in Washington, DC.
  • US citizenship required; prior experience in contract or consulting environments is beneficial.
  • Relevant degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience preferred.
