Job description

Tech Agronomist III – Southwest Wisconsin

Residence‑based position in Southwest Wisconsin.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute field‑scale testing programs, including field testing of commercial Bayer seed products and Ground Breaker trials for new product launches from all platforms.
  • Collaborate with seed dealers/growers to plant trials, collect required data, maintain, and harvest trials.
  • Provide technical support and training for seed dealers and the Bayer sales team.
  • Work with the Bayer sales team to achieve local business objectives through technical support, consultation, and training.
  • Give seed dealer support provided strategically based on business priorities.
  • Establish and execute effective communication and training strategies with seed dealers. Provide technical information for seed, trait, and chemistry products.
  • Communicate agronomic positioning and benefits of seed and trait products and the benefits and uses of crop protection products.
  • Develop and instill confidence in product recommendations and tailored solutions.
  • Provide sales and business support.
  • Create an annual agronomy business plan for communication/alignment with the sales team, with strategies and prioritized activities to achieve business objectives.
  • Care for area impact on business results for the sales team.
  • Plan and execute tactics to support identified business strategies and objectives.
  • Participate actively in local portfolio management and future‑year forecasting.
  • Assume sales team and/or agronomy team project leadership role(s).
  • Build profile as a technical expert in the territory.
  • Build presence and credibility with key growers, seed dealers, crop consultants, and other key third‑party stakeholders.
  • Be compliant with Bayer safety and vehicle safety policies.
  • Be responsible for product stewardship and use recommendations for the local territory.
  • Maintain key customer and stakeholder relationships and company image.
  • Position entails driving a company vehicle (pooled or assigned). This may include driving greater than 7,500 business miles annually in a personal, pooled, or rented vehicle or being expected to frequently drive a pooled car as part of duties.
  • Position requires driving that may fall under DOT/FMCSA jurisdiction and may require a CDL. This may entail hauling trailers, product, supplies, or equipment in a safe manner.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in agronomy, sales, field development, or research and development roles.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs (a bag of seed).
  • Valid driver’s license. A driving record (MVR) will be reviewed and must meet company risk screening guidelines.
  • Possess a DOT driver medical card or the ability to obtain one through a DOT physical. Must meet all applicable DOT/FMCSA criteria.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or a related discipline with at least seven years of experience in agronomy, sales, field development, or R&D.
  • Master’s degree in agriculture or a related discipline with at least four years of experience in the same fields.
  • Ph.D. in agriculture or a related discipline with at least three years of experience in the same fields.
Compensation and Benefits

Employees can expect a salary between $92,880.00 and $139,320.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, and more.
