Job description

Express Seed Company was founded in 1982 as a full-service brokerage and supply chain manager that imports, processes, and distributes seeds, plugs, cuttings, liners, and more. From vendor to customer, our goal is to provide excellent service, solve problems, and help our customers be more profitable. Express Seed Company works primarily with medium to large-sized greenhouse growers, but also with contract growers, independent garden centers, and landscapers. Express Seed Company employs over 100 people in customer service, vendor relations, marketing, sales, logistics, and finance to serve thousands of customers.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Accounting Specialist excels in managing a high volume of documents and information efficiently. The Accounting Specialist has strong communication skills to ensure proactive communication across all organizational levels. This role requires excellent time management and organizational abilities with a focus on improving processes. A candidate for this role should demonstrate keen attention to detail and an aptitude for enhancing operational efficiency.

JOB DUTIES:
Collaborate with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams, adapting during peak times of the year
Manage daily check deposits and ACH's
Review and process credit applications and set up new customers
Assist in entering and maintaining documentation within the accounting system
Communicate with customers to address invoice issues and ensure prompt payment
Accurately post customer payments and ensure timely processing
Send monthly statements to customers
Provide support in researching and resolving invoice discrepancies
Generate aging reports and manage past due accounts
Interact daily with Sales Representatives to obtain payments on past due invoices
Post vendor invoices and reconciliation statements
Participate in annual financial audits
Engage in month end activities and reporting
All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Associate's degree in a finance related field or relevant experience required
2+ years of related accounting experience required
Experience with ERP systems, NAV preferred
Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures and accounting principles
Advanced skills with Microsoft Office suite
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work efficiently under deadlines and handle multiple tasks
Ability to work well in a team and cross-functionally in a business environment with seasonal peaks
Ethical behavior and professionalism

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT & REQUIREMENTS:
