Job description

About Seed-X

Seed-X is an innovative, high-growth AgTech company revolutionizing the agriculture industry. We leverage proprietary AI, machine vision, and deep learning algorithms to analyze seeds at the individual level, providing unmatched insights into genetic purity, quality, and germination potential. Our technology enables breeders and producers to drastically improve seed quality, increase yields, and ensure a more secure, sustainable food future. Join us as we transform the global seed and grain supply chain.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated, ambitious, and results-driven Operations and Sales Intern to support our day-to-day operations and spearhead the growth of Seed-X's cutting-edge AI technology within the vital California vegetable seed markets.

This is a dynamic, "hunter" role for a hands-on, commercially astute individual who thrives in a fast-paced, high-tech environment. Based in the Davis, Salinas, or Sacramento area, you will be the face of Seed-X in your territory, balancing technical operations with proactive sales outreach to drive the adoption of our advanced seed analysis and sorting solutions among leading seed companies, breeders, and producers.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Field Operations
  • Machine Operation: Execute and monitor AI-driven seed sorting machines to process, analyze, and grade seed and grain batches.
  • Data Collection: Conduct precise phenotyping assessments using Seed-X's proprietary mobile software.
  • Data Management: Process, clean, and structure phenotypical data to support ongoing AI training and algorithm development.
  • Order Administration: Oversee the administrative pipeline for new customer orders, ensuring accurate data entry, thorough documentation, and seamless internal coordination.
Sales & Market Development
  • Territory Growth: Develop and execute a localized sales strategy to introduce Seed-X's AI-powered solutions to major seed companies and vegetable breeders in the region.
  • Lead Generation: Proactively identify, target, and pitch new business opportunities to generate revenue and expand our market footprint.
  • Marketing Initiatives: Support and drive local marketing campaigns, ensuring initiatives are effectively executed, tracked, and optimized for lead generation.
  • Market Intelligence: Stay abreast of regional market trends, competitor activity, and agricultural shifts to identify new business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Location: Must be based in (or able to easily commute across) the Davis, Salinas, or Sacramento, CA regions.
  • Mindset: A positive, proactive, and highly responsible attitude with a strong willingness to learn complex technical workflows.
  • Industry Expertise (Strong Plus): Direct exposure to or experience within the vegetable seed industry (e.g., seed sales, crop protection, breeding support) or the broader AgTech sector is a significant advantage.
  • Tech Savviness: Comfortable working with new software and AI data tools; ability to conceptually understand and pitch a highly technical, data-driven product rather than a traditional agricultural commodity.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to interface directly with growers, plant breeders, and corporate stakeholders.
