Job description

Job Title: Security Officer
Status: Full Time
Location: Rochester, NY
Department: Security
Reportsto:Security Supervisor
Job Type: Non Exempt
Shift: Overnights Monday & Tuesday. 3PM-11PM three days per week. Every other weekend off.
Position Objective
A key member of a top-notch Security Department which provides a safe and secure facility for employees and visitors to respond quickly to emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assure the safety and security of our employees and visitors.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to medical and brewery emergencies.
  • Lock down/open up brewery and monitor facility via surveillance cameras, vehicle, or foot patrols.
  • Assure employees enter/exit grounds and buildings safely so ensure 24/7 coverage for the Genesee Brewing Company.
  • Monitor 50+ surveillance cameras for external access and Company parking lots.
  • Monitor Simplex fire alarm system including ammonia hazard awareness.
  • Perform security rounds, facility tours, monthly inspections, and mobile patrol throughout the brewery.
  • Provide facility tours on foot, monthly inspections, and mobile patrol throughout the brewery.
  • Work the front desk reception area to professionally greet and log-in visitors and dispatch incoming calls appropriately.
  • First Responder for emergency situations and medical transports when necessary.
  • Security Training for emergency situations: Medical, Active Shooter, Bomb Threats, Electrical Danger, Ammonia Leak, Alcohol Tanker Unloading, and Emergency Evacuation Procedures
  • Accurately maintain daily activity logs and incident reports
  • Order and issue employee ID badges/parking cards as well as activate/deactivate ID badges and grant building door access.
  • Participate in daily shift team meetings so the entire Security staff is up to date at the beginning of each shift.
  • Provide security assistance with patrons to the Genesee Brew House as needed.
  • Provide security for Brew House community events and TIF program (traffic control, limit gate access to brewery campus, and communication to employees).
  • Work with community neighborhood and Law Enforcement Agencies for the safety of the area.
  • Work with EHS and Management to help assist employee health and safety (i.e. staffing the temperature validation sites during pandemic).
  • Actively exhibit a commitment to support a diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • NYS Security License
  • Current on 16-hour OJT or 8-hour renewal
  • NYS Driver's License
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice is a plus
  • 1 year of Security experience or more preferred
  • First Responder Certification
  • AED/BAT certifications
  • Ability to assess and diffuse contentious situations; confront employees, patrons, contractors, and pedestrians; and maintain strict confidentiality.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
  • Extensive walking is required during each shift.
  • Must be able to climb (ascend and descend) multiple sets of stairs several times per shift.
  • Inside rounds involve extensive walking, climbing, and descending of stairs (approximately 90 minutes in duration). Outside rounds can be done with the assistance of the Security vehicle and involves getting in/out of the vehicle multiple times to check doors/entrances and also going into the buildings
  • Must be able to physically respond to emergencies anywhere throughout the brewery quickly, which may require running.
  • Must wear a ballistic vest properly for the entire shift.
  • Must wear all regulatory required PPE relative to a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. as needed (rescue bag)

The starting pay rate for this position is $23.00/hour not including opportunities for overtime and shift premiums.
