Director of Security Programs Role:

As a member of the Data Center Operations Programs team, the Director of Security Programs is responsible for leading and managing corporate security programs and should possess a multi-disciplined background, a strong track record within data center businesses or related fields, project management experience, and a solid command of security processes, training, and requirements, along with a thorough knowledge of advanced security systems and security-related legislation and regulations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead, maintain, and continuously improve the operations and effectiveness of the company’s security program
  • Act as trusted advisor to senior management on security, crisis management, business integrity and other matters.
  • Develop and maintains effective relationships with key internal stakeholders at CoreSite and American Tower Corporation.
  • Collaborate with internal public affairs teams to cultivate and maintain relationships with external entities relevant to corporate security, such as government and law enforcement agencies, industry bodies, regulatory agencies, and private sector counterparts.
  • Develop and drive corporate security strategies inclusive of executive security, personnel security, physical security, security technology, 3rd party compliance, etc.
  • Direct the analysis, planning, implementation, enhancement and deployment of physical access control infrastructure including both hardware, software, camera and NVR/video monitoring solutions
  • Develop and maintain a security qualifications program for the Data Centers Operation team to ensure security proficiency and professionalism
  • Provide support to and oversight of the Security Program Managers and SMEs
  • Improve and enhance security program development and ensure compliance with the Security SOP
  • Develop security awareness training programs for employees, contractors and approved system users
  • Work directly with Legal, Compliance and Data Center Operations personnel to support integration of privacy, compliance, and security activities and operations
  • Conduct regular site risk assessments identifying gaps and vulnerabilities in company’s security and risk posture, designing and implementing solutions with partners
  • Own the security relationship with Construction, Sales, Client Services, Compliance, Legal, Procurement and other internal units on strategic customer initiatives
  • Lead and drive exceptional customer service by ensuring the Security Enablement Team delivers high-quality, prompt and efficient services to our strategic customers
  • Engage in departmental steering meetings and make appropriate security recommendations
  • Manage security vendor relationships and lead RFI, RFP and contract evaluation activities for security technologies and services
  • Manage security incident investigation, corrective measure implementation and training pertaining to security related operations
  • Attend industry conferences and courses to maintain a high level of general and technological awareness and competency within the security industry
  • Responsible for the Security Program Team annual budget
  • Promote and demonstrate the behaviors consistent with CoreSite’s culture and core values.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to thrive in a hybrid work environment, with regular on-site presence of up to 2 days per week.
  • Flexibility to travel up to 50%, with the potential for increased travel or in-office presence as business needs evolve.
  • Strong knowledge of physical and corporate security principles, technologies, and operations, including access control, video management systems (VMS), investigations, crisis management, and incident response.
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess security risks and vulnerabilities and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Demonstrated leadership and relationship-management skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, external agencies, vendors, and industry partners.
  • Strong program and project management skills, with the ability to manage complex security initiatives, competing priorities, budgets, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate security risks and recommendations and develop effective security training and awareness programs.
  • Demonstrated experience with third-party compliance programs and applicable industry frameworks and standards, including SOC, NIST, FedRAMP, ISO, PCI DSS, HIPAA, and other relevant regulatory or compliance requirements.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, security management, business, engineering, or related field;
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive security leadership experience.
  • 5+ years leading enterprise-level physical security programs.
  • Experience in data centers, critical infrastructure, telecommunications, technology, or related industries.
  • Experience managing multimillion-dollar security budgets.
  • Professional certifications such as CPP, PSP, PMP, CISM, or equivalent preferred.

Compensation: Compensation for this role includes a base salary between $165,000 and $175,000. This role is also eligible for an annual bonus and equity, based upon individual and company performance.
