Job description

Healthcare Security Program Manager

Marlborough & Groton, Massachusetts

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and driven Healthcare Security Program Manager to lead security operations across two healthcare locations in Marlborough and Groton, Massachusetts. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of patients, visitors, employees, and property while delivering exceptional service, operational excellence, and a positive security culture.

The Healthcare Security Program Manager serves as the primary liaison between healthcare leadership and the security team, overseeing daily operations, staffing, employee development, emergency preparedness, workplace violence prevention initiatives, and security technology programs. This position requires regular travel between both locations and the ability to respond to operational and security-related needs as they arise.

Compensation & Schedule

Salary: $80,000 annually

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

While this role is primarily scheduled during standard business hours, flexibility is required to support staffing challenges, special events, and response to emergencies.

Only candidates local to Marlborough and Groton, MA will be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

Healthcare Security Leadership

  • Lead security operations across two healthcare facilities.
  • Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, accountability, and customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with client requirements, company policies, and healthcare security best practices.
  • Maintain a visible leadership presence throughout both locations.
  • Foster strong partnerships with clinical and administrative leadership teams.

Client Partnership & Service Excellence

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for healthcare leadership regarding security operations.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and collaboration.
  • Resolve operational concerns and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Review and maintain post orders, standard operating procedures, and site-specific security protocols.
  • Ensure security services consistently exceed client expectations.

Operations, Safety & Emergency Preparedness

  • Oversee daily security operations, officer performance, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Lead responses to security incidents and support workplace violence prevention efforts.
  • Conduct investigations involving safety, security, policy violations, and operational concerns.
  • Analyze incident trends and recommend proactive risk-reduction strategies.
  • Support emergency management, disaster preparedness, and business continuity planning.
  • Collaborate with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies as appropriate.

Staffing, Training & Team Development

  • Onboard, develop, and retain high-performing security personnel in partnership with the HR Recruiting Team.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and accountability.
  • Ensure staff receive ongoing training in healthcare security, de-escalation techniques, emergency response, incident report writing, and customer service.
  • Oversee staffing plans and scheduling to maintain effective coverage across both locations.
  • Promote employee engagement, professional growth, and team success.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of security management, military service, or law enforcement experience required. Prior hospital security experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing operations across multiple locations preferred.
  • Experience onboarding and training new hires preferred.
  • IAHSS certification, or willingness to obtain certification, preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, ability to travel regularly between Marlborough and Groton locations.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and critical incidents when needed.
  • Successful completion of all required background screening and pre-employment requirements.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare security operations and workplace violence prevention strategies.
  • Proven leadership, employee development, and team-building skills.
  • Experience with access control, CCTV, alarm monitoring, and visitor management systems.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and relationship-management abilities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
