Job description

The Security Operations Manager develops and implements security strategies at Empyreal. The Security Operations Manager will create security policies and procedures, control budgets for security operations, and directly supervise Security Shift Leads in addition to providing operational oversight in the SOC.

The Security Operations Manager will oversee all Empyreal SMAs and will lead incident command in coordination with the SSLs to maintain continuity with company staff and local authorities. The Security Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that all SOC staff and supervisors are properly trained and equipped to successfully do their jobs in the SOC.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Strategic Planning
  • Plan and implement comprehensive security strategies
  • Keep current with new technologies and advancements in security services
  • Gather security intelligence and implement preventive measures
  • Collaborate with department managers and branch managers to determine security needs
  • Assist with special projects and perform other duties as requested by Director of Security or Executive Leadership

Leadership

  • Oversee all Empyreal Security Operations Centers (SOC)
  • Control the SOC budget, monitor expenses and document operational processes
  • Lead incident command coordinating with Security Shift Leads
  • Conduct regular meetings with team to set goals and analyze results
  • Serve as the subject-matter expert on security equipment used in the SOC, branches, and vehicles
  • Assist the Senior Security Shift Lead in creating the weekly SOC schedules
  •  Assist the Senior Security Shift Lead in setting up and completing the weekly Security Management Meeting with all Security Shift Leads and Sr. SMAs

Training/Coaching

  • Supervise and coach Security Shift Leads
  • Develop and facilitate all training for SOC staff
  • Manage SOC training content and reporting in the Opus learning management system
  • Take the lead in scheduling and conducting interviews and collaborate with the Director of Security on hiring needs/decisions for all SOC staff
  • Conduct periodic spot checks of the SOC and ensure that Empyreal standards regarding quality and productivity are upheld

Branch Access/Security

  •  Develop security rehearsals/drills protocols
  •  Develop security audit processes
  •  Review reports on vehicle security failures and work with SSLs to find solutions to minimize these issues

Documentation

  •  Investigate security threats and breaches
  •  Assist Security Shift Leads with documentation
  • Provide reports to executive leadership as requested

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or associate degree in criminal justice, or a closely related field (Preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience supervising a Security Operations Center or similar security operations environment
  • An ability to recognize and assess problem situations and exercise tact and judgment in bringing about resolution.
  • Ability to manage critical incidents successfully.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required
  • A positive attitude and ability to be a positive member of a team is required.
  • The ability to maintain strict confidentiality is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure dictated by event schedules and project timetables.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and strategic expertise in security monitoring.
