Role and Responsibilities

• Meet, Check & Greet Visitors:Meet secure facility workers at the door of the secure area. Keep track of all locker keys and be the point of contact for handing out and receiving back lockers' keys.
• Perform Security Measures:Ensureall individuals at the facility are employees who are there to attend to their working slots. Other safety measures can include inspecting bags and backpacks,operatinga wand or metal detecting station, handing out bathroom keys, monitoring cameras positioned throughout the establishment, asking questions to people who seem out of place and walking around toobserve. Security guards who have undergone training may take physical action whenwarranted, such as escorting a loiterer out of the building or breaking up a fight.
• Report Problems:All security guards need to be well-versed on what to do if a potentially unwanted situation arises. Whileremainingcalm andkeeping tabs ondevelopments, they must notify authorities or activateappropriate alarms.Communicating information to others in the building also may be necessary, such as providing a description of an unauthorized visitor.Security guards also keep an eye on the facility itself forpossible hazards, such as a lightbulb that needs changing or an icy entranceway, and relay observations to maintenance.
• Monitor Control Systems:In addition toobservingfoot traffic within a building, security guardsmonitorthe company's control systems and conduct closed-system TV surveillance.
• Assist with Office Setup:Carry out other tasks as needed to support the office readiness for project(s) kick-off
• Document and report daily incidents and activities
• Manage inventory

Qualifications

• Interpersonal Skills- Patience, listening, and communicating with a confident but friendly attitude are all people skills a security guard must tap into whileassistingvisitors or employees
• Memorization- When you know the names and routines of those who work in the facility orfrequentlycomebyspotting intruders or unusual activity is easier
• Multitasking- Balancing tasks requires staying on top of things and prioritizing
• Attention to Detail- Security guards have a keen eye for what's transpiring in the building, including visitors,
  

Security Guard Education and Training

• All candidates shouldpossessa high school diploma and be prepared for a background check. On the administrative side, aspiring security guards should be proficient at basic computer usage and office tasks. Candidates should have proven experience as a security guard ina previousposition.
  
• All candidates should havethe required training and licensing as required by local,stateand national government
