Job Description Contract-to-Hire | Remote During Contract | Relocation to Springfield, MO Required Upon Conversion Capstone IT is partnering with one of the nation's leading retail organizations to identify a Senior Oracle Database Administrator who will support highly available, enterprise Oracle environments powering mission-critical retail operations. This is an opportunity to join a mature infrastructure team responsible for the reliability, performance, and scalability of large Oracle database platforms supporting thousands of users across the enterprise. You'll play a key role in database administration, performance optimization, disaster recovery, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This position is structured as a six-month contract-to-hire to support an accelerated hiring process. Candidates may work remotely during the contract engagement but must be willing to relocate to Springfield, Missouri within six months of converting to a full-time employee. What You'll Do Administer large-scale Oracle 19c production databases supporting critical enterprise applications Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain Oracle environments using OPatch and Oracle Release Updates (RUs) Manage Oracle RAC, Grid Infrastructure, Clusterware, ASM, and Oracle Multitenant (CDB/PDB) environments Design, implement, and support Oracle Data Guard solutions, including switchover and failover operations Develop and execute high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and recovery strategies using RMAN Monitor and optimize database performance utilizing AWR, ASH, ADDM, SQL Trace, execution plans, and SQL Plan Management Tune SQL, PL/SQL, indexes, partitioning strategies, optimizer statistics, memory allocation, and storage utilization Administer Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Cloud Control and enterprise monitoring solutions Automate routine database administration tasks using Bash, SQL*Plus, SQLcl, Python, Perl, or similar scripting tools Support database cloning, refreshes, migrations, upgrades, and provisioning activities Manage database security, auditing, user access, roles, privileges, and compliance with enterprise security standards Troubleshoot complex production issues involving locking, wait events, concurrency, networking, replication, and performance bottlenecks Participate in on-call production support while maintaining high availability and service level objectives Partner closely with infrastructure, application development, security, and operations teams to deliver reliable database services Contribute to operational documentation, disaster recovery procedures, automation initiatives, and mentoring of junior DBAs What We're Looking For Extensive experience administering Oracle Database 19c within large, enterprise production environments Deep expertise with Oracle RAC, Grid Infrastructure, Clusterware, ASM, and Data Guard Strong experience with RMAN backup and recovery, including point-in-time recovery and database duplication Advanced Oracle performance tuning experience using AWR, ASH, ADDM, SQL Trace, execution plans, and SQL Plan Management Strong SQL and PL/SQL performance tuning skills Experience administering Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Cloud Control Solid Linux administration skills with experience developing automation through Bash, Python, Perl, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages Experience supporting Oracle Multitenant architecture (CDB/PDB) Knowledge of Oracle networking including Oracle Net, Listeners, and TNS configuration Experience with Oracle Flashback technologies, Resource Manager, and memory optimization (SGA, PGA, HugePages) Familiarity with Oracle GoldenGate and enterprise database migration strategies is highly preferred Experience supporting virtualized or cloud-hosted Oracle environments including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, Azure, or VMware Strong understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, business continuity, and enterprise change management practices Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and documentation skills Experience supporting environments with stringent uptime requirements (99.99% availability or greater) Why Join.
