Job description


The Global Physical Security (GPS) Data Center Operations Team is the primary interface with all clients and ensures that client needs and expectations are met with high quality, industry standard programs and services. Oracle is now looking for an experienced security professional to join our team. Oracle utilizes internal owned data center locations and third-party external data centers managed by co-location service providers. This position will be responsible for the leadership and development of teams, products, and services within the Global Physical Security (GPS) operations line of business, with specialized functional expertise in the area of data center operational security, guard force management, crisis management programs, risk assessments, incident response and investigations.
Oracle is seeking a highly experienced and multi-talented Head of Data Center Physical Security Operations to join our team.
The qualified candidate will report directly to the Director, Data Center Security Operations. Periodic regional travel will be required. This is an individual contributor (IC) role, and the position has no direct reports but will have oversight of contracted security staff across their scope of responsibility.
Responsibilities
Provide operational direction and oversight so that the GPS strategic initiatives in relation to the data center operational security program are implemented consistently. These include but not limited to:
  • Security guard force management at both internal and external data center locations.
  • Partnership with Oracle Lines of Business and external audit regulatory bodies to ensure physical security compliance with diverse auditory requirements including but not limited to SSAE 18, ISO, and PCI.
  • Incident Response
  • Crisis Management
  • Meets financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing the annual service, and operating budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions. Also includes the processing of vendor invoicing and payment plans.
  • Works closely with cross functional support teams to ensure that service is compliant with all requirements.

Working with 3rd party security service providers as oversight for the recruitment, selection, orientation, training, development, and retention of high caliber security guard force staff.
  • Maintains recognized industry standard physical security best practices by ensuring a positive, professional environment in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; ensures that staff members understand and comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs additional functions as directed by the Sr. Manager, Data Center Security Operations Americas as necessary in order to achieve assigned business objectives.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY, IMPACT OF DECISIONS AND DEGREE OF SUPERVISION:
The Head of Data Center Security Operations scope of responsibility on site.
  • Manages and plan implementation of company policy for achieving business goals.
  • Works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. Exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Create formal networks involving coordination among groups.
  • Act independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments and may supervise the activities of others.
  • The qualified candidate will report directly to the GPS Director, Data Center Security Operations Americas, and function under limited supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum of 12 years of industrial security experience, combined with a minimum of 5 years of management and leadership experience ideally within a physical security/data center operational environment.
  • Ability to work onsite in Santa Teresa, NM. - Live within 1 hour commutable distance.
  • Broad expertise of industry specific legislations and compliance requirements as they apply to physical security operations in general and specific to data center security.
  • Experience of crisis management as it relates to physical security at corporate level.
  • A working knowledge of various security technology resources including access control/CCTV systems. Proficient with all basic Microsoft computer software programs and communications techniques.
  • Must be self-motivated and innovative, but equally comfortable working within a team or alone and requiring minimal supervision.
  • Must be a team player, ideally with global exposure to working with individuals from different cultures, backgrounds, and experiences.
  • Ability to communicate and articulate with a high level of proficiency in both the written and verbal format at all levels, up to and including Corporate Executive leadership.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.

This position will lead collaborative teams and resources to successful performance. Conduct analysis of business needs and identify programs & services required to meet those needs.

  • Ability to show experience in above required essential functions is mandatory.
  • BS/BA Degree desirable but not mandatory.
  • Industry certifications are preferred but not required.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $83,000 to $166,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
