Your role at a glance

Under the direction of the Security Supervisor, the Security Officer L1 is responsible for the administrative and operational duties associated with a site security team. This role works closely with the Data Center Operations Team (DCOPS) to ensure that security measures are in place and functioning properly.

Team members are expected to collaborate with other departments to assist with matters about the efficient operation of the data center, including Shipping & Receiving. The position enforces and adheres to security procedures based on policies determined by the Security Management team. Your vigilance and attention to detail will contribute to maintaining a secure environment for the NTT Data Center customer and the infrastructure.

What we are looking for

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all employees, clients, vendors, and visitors on company property have proper company-issued identification.

  • Patrols assignedposton foot tomaintainvisibility andobservespossible unusual activity.

  • Ensures that the client, its associates, and NTT Data Center personnel are provided with a safe and professional work environment.

  • Monitor andmaintainsecurity technologies, including CCTV systems, and access control systems.

  • Investigates, addresses, andreportssecurity, maintenance, and safety conditions.

  • Ensures daily administrative documentation is always concise and complete.This includes butnotlimited to, Shift Activity Reports, Incident Reports, ShiftPassdownLogs, and other related written documentation.

  • Adherence to NTT Data policy and security procedure manuals, in addition to Company policies.

  • Assistpersonnel withsecurity relatedrequests.

  • Completes assignments, related to access control audits, combustible audits, badge discrepancy audits, as directed by supervisory/management staff.

  • Assists with Shipping and Receivingtasksas necessary. This includes accepting, logging, and tracking shipments during times when the primary S&R Officer is not on-site or otherwise unavailable.

  • Responds to all site emergencies and coordinates with local emergency services.

  • Investigates andreportsfires, evacuations, hazardous situations/other facility-related events.

  • Maintains familiarity with Security procedures and policies in addition to Company policies.

  • Thoroughly investigates all security-related accidents/incidents,interviewswitnesses, complaints, and victims.

  • Guide personnel on security processes and protocols to ensure compliance.

  • Regular and predictable attendance is essential.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GEDrequired.

  • Additionaleducation or training in security-related fields is a plus.

  • At least (1) year in a security role, or equivalent combination of education and professional background.

  • Prior experience in a Data Center or similar environment is a plus.

  • Prior experience in the administration and operation of access control systems, CCTV systems with digitalrecording, andphoto ID systems, and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Demonstrated integrity, honesty, and reliability in fulfilling security responsibilities.

  • As a condition of employment, you are required to possess active certifications such as Certified Security Guard (CSG) or Certified Protection Officer (CPO) as mandated by state regulations, to be obtained within six months of commencing employment and maintained throughout your tenure as a mandatory requirement.

Physical Requirements

  • Must work on-site, no telecommuting.

  • Must follow PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) guidelines asdeterminedfor the position.

  • Mustwear NTT security uniform and adhere to NTT's Dress Code and Personal Standards.

  • Must be comfortable working ina highly critical, highly confidential, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

  • Must be able to respond to emergencies at the Data Center.

  • Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, and holidays, and be part ofon-call protocol.

  • Mustparticipatein some capacity in the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program-use smart mobiledevicewith cellular connectivity capable of downloading active applications.

  • A valid driver's license isrequiredas employees will need to support tasks in nearby buildings andutilizecompany vehicles to complete assignments.

  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.

  • CPR/First Aid Certification preferred or can be obtained working for NTT.

  • Mustpossesor become forklift certified.NTT will provide initial and ongoing certification training.

Compensation Pay Range

For roles residing in the US, we share pay and benefit levels to support pay transparency requirements. For other countries, we are more than happy to share our competitive pay and benefit levels during the interview process.


This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.


NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is:

$20.19 - $28.85

All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
