Position Type: Full-Time | Leadership / Management Department: Security Operations Reports To: President & Executive Leadership Experience Required: Minimum 5 Years of Security and Leadership Experience POSITION OVERVIEW Top Shelf Security Services Inc. is seeking an experienced, disciplined, and highly professional Director of Security to provide strategic and operational leadership across our security operations. This is a senior leadership position responsible for ensuring that security personnel, supervisors, and field operations consistently meet company standards, client expectations, contractual requirements, and applicable laws and regulations. The Director of Security will oversee day-to-day security operations, personnel performance, site compliance, staffing readiness, client service, incident management, quality assurance, training, and operational accountability. The ideal candidate must be a strong and decisive leader who understands professional security operations and has the ability to lead teams, solve problems, enforce standards, communicate with clients, and hold personnel accountable. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT Candidates must have: A minimum of five (5) years of professional security experience. A minimum of five (5) years of leadership, supervisory, management, or command-level experience. Demonstrated experience supervising security officers, supervisors, or other operational personnel. Experience managing multiple responsibilities, locations, shifts, or security assignments is strongly preferred. Experience working within a structured chain of command and enforcing organizational policies and procedures. Candidates who do not meet the required leadership and security experience may not be considered for this position. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Security Operations Leadership The Director of Security will provide leadership and oversight for company security operations and will be expected to: Direct and oversee daily security operations across assigned client sites. Ensure all posts are properly staffed and operationally prepared. Monitor supervisors and security personnel for compliance with company standards. Ensure officers understand and follow site-specific post orders. Conduct operational assessments and recommend improvements. Assist executive leadership with the development and implementation of security strategies. Maintain operational readiness for new and existing contracts. Ensure appropriate leadership coverage and escalation procedures are maintained. Personnel Management & Accountability The Director of Security will be responsible for maintaining a professional, disciplined, and accountable security workforce. Responsibilities include: Provide leadership and direction to security supervisors and officers. Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, uniform compliance, professionalism, and job performance. Address performance deficiencies promptly and professionally. Participate in employee coaching, corrective action, and disciplinary recommendations when appropriate. Ensure supervisors are effectively managing their assigned personnel. Reinforce the company’s chain of command. Help establish a culture of professionalism, accountability, communication, and follow-through. Assist with employee evaluations and performance improvement initiatives. Staffing & Scheduling Oversight The Director of Security will work with leadership and operations personnel to ensure adequate staffing for company contracts. Duties may include: Reviewing schedules and staffing requirements. Identifying staffing shortages before they affect client operations. Coordinating coverage for call-offs, emergencies, special assignments, and vacancies. Monitoring overtime and staffing efficiency. Ensuring qualified personnel are assigned appropriately based on client and contract requirements. Assisting with mobilization and staffing plans for new contracts. Client Relations The Director of Security will serve as an important operational representative of Top Shelf Security Services Inc. Responsibilities include: Maintain professional relationships with clients and authorized client representatives. Respond promptly to operational concerns and service-related issues. Participate in client meetings when required. Follow up on client complaints and determine appropriate corrective action. Ensure services are being delivered according to contractual expectations. Communicate significant client concerns to executive leadership. Identify opportunities to strengthen client satisfaction and retention. Quality Assurance & Site Inspections The Director of Security will help ensure that Top Shelf Security Services maintains consistent standards across all assignments. Responsibilities include: Conduct scheduled and unannounced site inspections. Evaluate officer appearance, professionalism, attentiveness, and post performance. Verify that required documentation is being completed correctly. Review post orders and ensure officers understand their responsibilities. Identify operational deficiencies and establish corrective-action plans. Follow up to ensure identified issues have been corrected. Provide leadership with reports regarding site performance and compliance. Incident & Emergency Management The Director of Security must be capable of providing leadership during serious incidents and emergencies. Responsibilities include: Provide management oversight during significant security incidents. Ensure proper notifications and escalation procedures are followed. Review incident reports for accuracy, professionalism, and completeness. Coordinate with clients, emergency services, and company leadership when appropriate. Conduct post-incident reviews. Identify lessons learned and recommend operational improvements. Ensure security personnel understand emergency response procedures. Training & Professional Development The Director of Security will support the continued professional development of security personnel and supervisors. Responsibilities include: Identify training needs within the security workforce. Assist with supervisor and officer development. Reinforce company policies, SOPs, post orders, and professional standards. Ensure required training and certifications remain current when applicable. Participate in leadership development and operational training. Mentor supervisors and emerging leaders within the organization. Reports, Documentation & Compliance The Director of Security will be expected to maintain accurate and professional operational documentation. Responsibilities include: Review incident reports, daily activity reports, inspection reports, and other security documentation. Ensure documentation is completed accurately and submitted within required deadlines. Maintain confidentiality of employee, client, contract, and company information. Assist leadership with operational reports and performance assessments. Ensure security operations follow applicable company policies, contractual requirements, and legal/regulatory requirements. Immediately escalate serious compliance or liability concerns to executive leadership. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate must demonstrate: Minimum 5 years of professional security experience. Minimum 5 years of leadership or management experience. Strong knowledge of security operations and personnel management. Excellent leadership and decision-making abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to professionally manage employee and client concerns. Strong conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment. Ability to work outside normal business hours when operational emergencies require leadership involvement. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preference may be given to candidates with: Previous experience as a Security Director, Security Manager, Operations Manager, Account Manager, Field Supervisor, or comparable security leadership professional. Experience managing multiple security locations or contracts. Experience with armed and unarmed security operations. Experience with contract security services. Experience with government, municipal, corporate, commercial, healthcare, residential, or high-profile security environments. Experience with employee training and leadership development. Experience with contract mobilization and new-site implementation. Familiarity with security scheduling, incident management, quality assurance, and compliance systems. LEADERSHIP EXPECTATIONS The Director of Security is expected to lead by example. This individual must demonstrate professionalism, integrity, accountability, consistency, confidentiality, sound judgment, and respect for the company’s chain of command. The Director must be comfortable making operational decisions while also understanding when matters require executive approval. This position requires someone who does more than manage schedules.
