MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT: 21 years old

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: State of Nevada Gaming Permit, Alcohol Awareness Card, and Valid Driver License

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Security & Government Affairs is responsible for the overall administrative function and operations of the Company’s Security Department and provides as a liaison between the community, county, state, federal government, and the gaming properties.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have 3 years experience in Security and/or Surveillance Operations Management. Previous experience in government affairs/relations is required. Must be able to make sound decisions under stressful situations and in short time frames. Must possess basic math skills, be computer literate and have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must demonstrate leadership. Must be flexible and excel at problem solving. Must efficiently and fairly delegate responsibilities. Must be able to motivate others. Must possess integrity and the basic desire to serve and protect. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must possess knowledge and understanding of Nevada State Gaming control Board Regulations, Security Department Policies and Procedures, and Mesquite Gaming Policies and Guidelines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Operate the Security Department within budget guidelines.
  2. Provide communication and reports to the General Manager and C.E.O. regarding the state of security on all Properties.
  3. Recognize, report, and solve trends that are contrary to Company and Departmental Policies and Procedures.
  4. Coordinate with all departments within the company and all outside agencies to ensure a safe and secure environment exists for all team members.
  5. Hire, train, lead, develop, motivate, evaluate, coach, and discipline employees.
  6. Actively participate in meetings as directed by the C.E.O.
  7. Provide leadership in establishing the company’s position on local, regional, and state level political and regulatory issues that effect our business operations.
  8. Develop a strong working relationship with members of local regulatory boards and other political agencies.Manage the Company’s relationship with those groups.
  9. Represent the Company in key trade associations, committees, and task forces.
  • Other job related duties as assigned and instructed by management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as typewriters and record boxes. The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, libraries, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work environment may occasionally involve exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress requiring a range of safety and other precautions, i.e. outdoor weather conditions, under threat of physical attack by other person(s), or in similar situations in which conditions cannot be completely controlled. The work environment involves exposure to second hand smoke in a casino.This is a 24 hour/7 day a week work environment with varying shifts including weekends and holidays.
