Who are we looking for?

Our Property & Buildings business is looking for a Security Consultant to work on the design of cutting-edge Electronic Security Systems (ESS) including Access Control (ACS), Video Surveillance (VASS/CCTV), Intrusion Detection (IDS), vehicle barrier controls, and 2-way intercoms.  

In this role, you'll collaborate with architectural and engineering teams to develop construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates from conceptual design through construction documents, construction administration, and project closeout. You'll bring creative, project-specific solutions to life while managing multi-discipline projects and engaging with stakeholders across regions. From proposal development to execution, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality, innovative security solutions that serve our clients and communities locally and globally.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in

  • Client & Customer Management (External): Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems.
  • Community of Practice Management: Participate in a community of practice in a defined area of expertise or consulting to begin to build own expertise.

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
  • Engineering Inspections: Carry out inspections under the supervision of senior colleagues to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and make recommendations to senior colleagues on the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the development of, and implement feasibility testing of, proposed engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate the design.

  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.

  • Knowledge Management System: Help others get the most out of knowledge management systems by offering support and advice.

  • Project Management: Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
  • Request for Bid Solicitation/Proposal/Tender Response: Gather information and resources, draft and complete standardized proposals, and fulfill all process requirements (in terms of deadlines, documentation, etc.) in response to bid solicitations, request for proposal, and request for tender to create the best chance of being awarded the contract.
  • Testing: Use product specifications to design test procedures and standards.

What will you bring to the team?

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; proven equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities, and experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
  • Ability to work independently in Autodesk Revit required, 5+ Years experience a plus
  • ASIS PSP Required (or ability to obtain it within 6 months); ASIS CPP a plus
  • Completed the Software House C-Cure 9000 Applications Engineer/Consultant training
  • 5-10 years of relevant security consulting experience
  • Experience with ATFP and CPTED
  • Expert knowledge of industry leading access control, camera, NVR, video analytics, network, PLC, and intercom systems
  • Strong project management skills, managing discipline specific and multi-disciplinary projects on time and within budget, while exceeding client expectations
  • Working knowledge of state and national building and energy codes and standards a plus
  • Highly developed communication skills, both oral and written, including client facing engagement, working well within team structures, and a proven ability to develop, mentor and collaborate with technical teammates.
  • Federal Government DoD and civilian agencies' project and client experience a plus
  • Understanding of project management software tools; BST experience a plus
  • Limited travel outside of the Washington D.C. area is anticipated, but may be deemed necessary by project

  • Paid time off - Our PTO benefit is designed to provide eligible employees with a period of rest and relaxation, sick, and personal time throughout the year. PTO starts at 16 days per year and increases with years of service
  • Holiday Pay - Holiday pay is provided for eligible employees. GHD observes 9 holidays per year. Holiday pay will be based on the regular set schedule for the employee
  • Wellness Benefit- Regular full-term employees are eligible to participate in the wellness reimbursement program. GHD will reimburse 50% of the cost of the following to maximum of $250.00 reimbursement annually for such items as: Health club membership fees, Home exercise equipment purchases, Bicycles, Race, run & marathon entrance fees, Smoking cessation programs, Weight loss programs (i.e.-Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig), Fitbits and Fitness Tracking devices

Salary Range: $88,700 - $147,900 based on experience and location.
