Job description

The Security Support Technician identifies weaknesses, troubleshoots issues and facilitates repairs of the Rock Family of Companies physical security systems. This requires a fundamental understanding of networking and electronics. The primary systems that this person deals with are IP security cameras, IP intercoms, and burglar alarms with central station and two-way radio systems.
About the role
  • Perform some management duties within the Security Technology group
  • Identify, quantify and prepare total solutions for security and safety risks and enhancements
  • Manage, oversee and review the design of security systems and their implementation
  • Act as system manager for all installed security systems
  • Oversee a formal process improvement program for services
  • Provide measurement reports to senior management
  • Identify and manage contractors for outsourced projects
  • Provide project management, direction and innovation in the areas of strategic planning, risk assessment, technology enhancements and configuration control of security systems on special projects as assigned
  • Oversee process improvement programs related to security system enhancements
  • Review and provide project oversights on the design and installation of fire alarm/notification and security systems
  • Identify, manage and develop relationships with sub-contractors
  • Perform training sessions, manage programming, coordinate resolution of alarm system problems and malfunctions, and provide system configuration documentation for alarm system users
  • Prepare proposals for new systems and existing system additions or alterations
  • Develop and maintain electronic security system specifications and construction standards

About you
  • 3 years of progressively responsible experience in the security (or related) industry
  • Experience presenting training programs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Network computing components and data collection devices
  • Ability to work 8 hours a day Monday through Friday
  • Available to be on call 1 week per month on a rotational basis
  • Positive and effective attitude
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Capacity to formulate action plans for process improvement initiatives, which may include the analysis of complex data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Process consulting skills
  • Technical problem identification and resolution skills
  • Bachelor's degree in security, public administration, business or electrical engineering
