Job description

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • To receive product in the warehouse, unpack and put product away.

  • Ship merchandise as required.

  • To co-ordinate and assist in delivering product to customers in a professional and efficient manner.

  • Maintain current and accurate records of merchandise entering or leaving the warehouse.

  • Be familiar with the different lines of merchandise carried in the Agro Centre.

  • Sort packing slips and invoices and distribute to the Agro Manager.

  • To assemble damaged merchandise as received in the warehouse and advise the Agro Manager for markdown recording and claims preparation.

  • Initiate claims for damaged or short shipped merchandise.

  • Maintain warehouse and agro yard in an orderly, organized manner.

  • Operate and maintain all equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner.

  • Assist in scheduling the maintenance of all vehicles and equipment.

  • Satisfactorily settle all customer complaints referred to him/her in accordance with company policy.

  • To be responsible for the security of the warehouse area - receiving doors locked at all times except receiving or shipping merchandise, in and out shipments properly accounted for, etc.

  • Observe safety measures and repor

    t hazardous conditions immediately to the Agro Manager.

  • Assist in other areas as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):

  • Knowledge of Agricultural products

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to problem solve

  • To be able to work effectively with other staff, supervisors and customers

  • Experience operating computer based applications including Microsoft Word, Excel

  • Strong organizational and record keeping skills

  • Ability to follow safe work procedures

Education and Experience:

  • Grade 12

  • Prior retail experience in an agricultural environment an asset

  • Previous warehouse experience an asset

  • Valid Class 5 license with a clean driver abstract

  • Forklift Operator Certification

  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)

  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certification
