The Impact You Will Have

As a Physical Security Specialist, you will serve as critical member of the Corporate Safety & Security team, responsible for safeguarding associates, visitors, contractors, company assets, and facilities while delivering exceptional customer service. This position combines physical security, Security Operations Center (SOC) monitoring, access control administration, emergency response coordination, visitor management, reception support, and security technology administration. You will play a key role in creating a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for everyone who enters our facilities. Whether serving as the first point of contact for visitors, supporting Security Operations Center activities, responding to incidents, or helping maintain business continuity, you will represent Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota with professionalism, sound judgment, and a service-focused mindset. In many situations, you will be the first Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota representative visitors interact with, making communication, professionalism, and customer service just as important as security awareness. Success in this role requires the ability to balance security operations, visitor engagement, emergency response, and facility security responsibilities within a professional corporate environment. Your work will help protect people and assets while ensuring associates, visitors, and business partners have a positive experience within our workplaces.

What You’ll Do
  • Monitor and operate Security Operation Center systems, reporting safety concerns, security breaches and unusual circumstances.
  • Receive and triage calls promptly, dispatching security/facilities staff as required, and directing inquires through established processes.
  • Respond to security issues and emergencies, coordinating with emergency services (EMT, Fire, Police, etc.) and internal teams as needed.
  • Manage access permissions, video management, key management systems, and cardholder records.
  • Remains flexible to ever changing environment; adapts well to different situations. Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while setting priorities and following up on assignments.
Hiring 3 Physical Security Specialists:
  • Physical Security Specialist supporting the Front Desk (1 Opening) - Monday-Thursday 7:30am – 6:00pm
  • Physical Security Specialists supporting the Security Operations Center (SOC) (2 Openings) - Monday- Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm OR Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm
How You’ll Do It
  • Serve as the first point of contact for visitors and guests by welcoming individuals, managing visitor access and registration, directing visitors appropriately, and maintaining a secure and professional reception area.

  • Support audits, investigations, and security reviews by gathering information and maintaining required documentation.

  • Communicate and coordinate with the security and safety teams to maintain business operational continuity.

  • Performs additional responsibilities consistent with the scope and level of the role, as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 1+ years of related work experience
  • High school diploma (or equivalent)
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Strong situational awareness, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience using security platforms to identify and mitigate risk.
  • Prior experience in physical security, access control, security monitoring, patrol operations, or related security roles.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain current knowledge of security and safety practices through required training, industry-specific professional development, and the application of learned concepts in daily work activities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with varied internal contacts, actively listen to clarify needs, and ensure accurate and timely information exchange.
  • Ability to recognize patterns in recurring issues, gather relevant information, and collaborate with others to implement practical solutions.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks across assignments, manage time effectively, and adjust to shifting workloads while maintaining accuracy.
