Job description

SWBC is seeking a motivated Security Intern to gain hands-on experience supporting a variety of security, risk, compliance, and resilience initiatives within a converged Security organization.
This internship provides exposure to Information Security, Physical Security, and Organizational Resilience programs while working alongside experienced security professionals in a regulated financial services environment. The intern will initially focus on governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) activities, including documentation, evidence collection, audit readiness, and compliance support, while gaining exposure to other security functions based on business needs and internship duration. Opportunities may include learning about cybersecurity technologies, identity and access management, security operations, physical security, business continuity, and resilience programs.
This opportunity allows interns to gain practical experience across multiple security disciplines while contributing to meaningful business projects. Interns will develop valuable professional skills, gain insight into how enterprise security programs operate, and explore potential career paths in cybersecurity, corporate security, risk management, and organizational resilience.

Essential duties include the following:

  • Support security assessments, audits, and client due diligence activities by gathering, organizing, and validating documentation and supporting evidence.
  • Assist with tracking compliance requests, audit activities, remediation tasks, and follow-up items.
  • Help prepare for assessments, walkthroughs, and meetings with auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Support documentation related to security controls, systems, applications, data protection, user access, and security processes.
  • Assist with risk and compliance activities by reviewing documentation and identifying missing information.
  • Collaborate with teams across Governance, Risk and Compliance, Identity and Access Management, Security Operations, Security Architecture, Business Continuity, and Security leadership.
  • Learn and follow SWBC security policies, standards, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Serious candidates will possess the minimum qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Risk Management, or a related field
  • Expected graduation date of December 2026 or later.
  • Foundational understanding of cybersecurity, information technology, or risk and compliance concepts.
  • Strong interest in cybersecurity, governance, risk management, compliance, audit readiness, and information protection.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and ask questions when clarification is needed.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Coursework or experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, identity and access management, networking, systems administration, audit, compliance, or risk management.
  • Familiarity with workflow and documentation platforms.
  • Interest in frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, SOC, or CIS Controls.
  • Interest in pursuing certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity.
