MissionHires is partnering with a $1.5B+ global, publicly traded leader in internet infrastructure and cybersecurity to hire a Senior ServiceNow Developer / Platform Engineer. In this hybrid Reston, VA role (2 days/week onsite), you will own platform strategy, architecture, and end-to-end delivery across ITSM, ITAM, CMDB, SecOps, GRC, and moreโ€”driving innovation, scalability, governance, and measurable business outcomes. Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of ServiceNow engineering leadership, deep handsโ€‘on development and integration expertise, and the ability to influence executive stakeholders. Responsibilities
  • Lead overall ServiceNow platform architecture and solution design aligned to business goals and best practices
  • Define and own the ServiceNow platform roadmap ensuring scalability, performance, stability, and audit compliance
  • Drive end-to-end implementations across Core, ITSM, ITAM, CMDB, SecOps, GRC, TPRM, and related modules
  • Design and optimize workflows, integrations, and custom modules/apps to extend platform capabilities
  • Manage platform upgrades and ensure adherence to enterprise security and compliance standards
  • Provide technical guidance for configuration, customization, scripting, and Service Portal development
  • Establish technical governance, coding standards, and platform best practices
  • Create and maintain solution documentation, technical/process knowledge bases, and training materials
  • Mentor and guide ServiceNow engineers; foster a collaborative, high-performance culture
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (IT, Security, Engineering, Finance, HR) to drive adoption and value
  • Engage executive leadership to translate objectives into measurable ServiceNow solutions
  • Coordinate project status, risks, and milestones with ServiceNow team management
  • Implement DevOps practices for ServiceNow automation and CI/CD where applicable
  • Continuously improve platform performance and operational efficiency; meet strict deadlines
  • Stay current on ServiceNow releases and trends; proactively apply new capabilities
  • Cultivate a safe environment for experimentation and innovation to solve organizational challenges
Requirements
  • 10+ years of handsโ€‘on ServiceNow platform development experience with deep expertise in ITSM, ITAM, and CMDB
  • Strong understanding of CMDB, Asset Management, Discovery, Portal, Incident, Problem, and Change processes
  • Proven architecture and design experience including workflows, custom apps, and complex integrations
  • Demonstrated leadership of technical teams through full project lifecycles on large-scale initiatives
  • Expert scripting within ServiceNow and Service Portal; strong API/Integration Hub/Spokes integration skills
  • Ability to balance out-of-the-box vs. custom solutions; understand attribute impacts on functionality
  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, and Kanban delivery methodologies
  • Excellent communication skills to present complex technical concepts to business leaders and stakeholders
  • Experience with SecOps, GRC, ITOM is a plus
  • Perl/Python programming in Linux environment is a plus
  • Must reside within a reasonable commute to Reston, VA or be motivated to relocate prior to start (hybrid 2x/week onsite; remote or delayed relocation not available)
  • US Citizen or Green Card holder; sponsorship not available
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in IT, Business, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience
