Job description

Sentinel Dock & Door, an ASSA ABLOY branded company, is seeking a bilingual (English/French) Desktop Support Specialist based in Lachine, Quebec, to support our operations and employees across Quebec. In this role, you will provide front-line technical support for desktop hardware, software, mobile devices, and peripherals across multiple locations. You will troubleshoot user issues, deploy and maintain IT equipment, and help ensure employees have secure, reliable technology to support their work.

What You Will Do

Technical Support

  • Provide first-level support for desktop, laptop, software, network, printer, and peripheral issues.
  • Respond to service desk tickets, phone calls, and email requests in a timely manner.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Assist with software installations, updates, and configurations.

Hardware, Software & User Management

  • Set up, configure, and deploy desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
  • Maintain system configurations, software updates, security patches, and network connectivity.
  • Support user account administration, including password resets, access management, and Active Directory tasks.
  • Track hardware inventory, software licenses, and equipment warranties.

Documentation & Collaboration

  • Maintain accurate documentation of support requests and resolutions.
  • Contribute to the IT knowledge base with troubleshooting guides and best practices.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to resolve recurring or complex issues and escalate when required.
  • Deliver professional, customer-focused support while communicating technical information clearly to end users.

What You Will Need

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Fluent in both English and French.
  • Experience in desktop support, help desk, or technical support environments.
  • Experience supporting Windows environments; macOS and Linux experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications and standard desktop hardware.

Technical Skills

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for desktop hardware and software.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and basic networking concepts.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and user account administration.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems and remote support tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Zendesk, Jira).
  • Basic understanding of endpoint security and antivirus solutions.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to travel to local sites and occasionally throughout Canada.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, MCDST, or similar certifications.
  • Experience with Intune, SCCM, MDM solutions, or software deployment tools.
  • Experience with desktop virtualization technologies.
