Job description

Apple is where individual imaginations gather together, committing to the values that lead to great work. Every new product we build, service we create, or Apple Store experience we deliver is the result of us making each other’s ideas stronger. That happens because every one of us shares a belief that we can make something wonderful and share it with the world, changing lives for the better. It’s the diversity of our people and their thinking that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do. When we bring everybody in, we can do the best work of our lives. Here, you’ll do more than join something - you’ll add something.
Do you love taking on big challenges that require exceptionally creative solutions? Do you deeply understand how an incredible camera experience should work? As part of our Camera Technologies group, you’ll help design the innovative technology that allows each generation of Apple products to produce photos even more incredible than the last. You’ll design and develop groundbreaking ideas for everything involved in our camera systems, from sensor to lens. You’ll collaborate with teams across Apple to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware for Apple products. Together, we’ll craft a magical photography experience that redefines what millions of customers can expect from their cameras.
The Camera Calibration and Test team plays a pivotal role in upholding product quality across all of Apple's products with built-in cameras, which includes iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, Mac Displays, and Apple Vision Pro! Their primary functions are to manage the camera calibration and test coverage at module integrators (MIs) and VCM vendors to ensure they meet the company's high-quality standards. This role offers a great opportunity for individuals with a passion for camera technology and a desire to make a positive impact on the quality of cameras on Apple products!
Description
In this role you will manage vendors and projects, overseeing all aspects of test maturity preparation and setting priorities for Module Integrators (MI). This role is expected to participate proactively in post-build FACA activities along with working with MIs to implement improvements, including enhancing tester UPH, retest rates, and efficiency.
This role is seeking an individual who enjoys engaging with a broad spectrum of technical areas rather than diving deeply into a single niche domain. These areas may include: CMOS image sensor test, high-speed data link signal integrity, I2C and driver operation, VCM actuation, lens quality, close-loop performance, and position sensor calibration effectiveness.","responsibilities":"Facilitate collaboration with multi-functional groups at Apple, such as position sensing, image sensor, mechanical design, EE, and OPS teams, to explore and define test coverage. Typical test coverage includes, but not limited to, SFR test, VCM and OIS calibration, Open-short test, electrical noise, color calibrations, dark noises, and distortion calibration.
Work with MIs and vendors to design and implement cost-effective test hardware and software solutions.
Supervise MIs on the preparation and progress of manufacture, as well as perform qualification and checks to ensure the solutions are approved. These tasks require an engineer who is ardently meticulous.
Traveling to MIs in Asia on as needed basis for periods of 2 weeks at a time.
Preferred Qualifications
3 years of relevant industry experience.
Second-language skills in Korean, Japanese, or Mandarin Chinese are a notable asset.
Ability to perform assignments at both a theoretical, high-level as well as practical detailed-level (concrete).
Proficiency in managing a team of vendor members for specific tasks and experience hosting cross-time zone meetings, with a focus on accommodating ESL participants. Working with MIs to validate and buy off test software and hardware.
Experience in breaking down complex assignments into manageable, executable tasks.
Knowledge in reviewing mechanical and electrical designs for sockets, fixtures, and test systems, along with the ability to solve related issues.
Capable of reviewing and modifying source codes in MATLAB/Python.
Possess data analysis knowledge and experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Color Science, Imaging Science, or related field.
Experience in at least 1 of the following domains: (CMOS Image Sensor Test or Validation, Lens quality analysis and testing, ATE, VCM Actuation and position sensor calibration and test, Image quality analysis, or Data analysis and visualization).
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
