Job description

Senior structural engineering position focusing on the performance of both routine and complex activities and tasks related to the design of high voltage transmission lines (69kV through 765kV).


Typical duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Perform complex tasks requiring the application of structural engineering techniques and procedures to prepare calculations, drawings, construction documents and engineering estimates and evaluations for construction projects using in depth experience and knowledge of structural design.
  • Develop and maintain design standards, material and equipment specifications, construction standards, and engineering practices for overhead and underground transmission lines.
  • Use experience to anticipate engineering and construction needs and leadership to provide advice and recommendations to support construction.
  • Lend support to the establishment of line ratings through LiDAR survey evaluation and other survey and inspection methods.
  • Lead and mentor less experienced team members to manage and execute design projects and construction support and review work of others to assure adherence to client and industry codes, standards, and good utility practice.
  • Monitor budget and schedule for assigned tasks.
  • Work with designers, drafters and lower level engineers to guide the development of drawings.


Desired Education, Experience, and Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in structural and foundation engineering.
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in the design of steel, wood and concrete structures, and foundations.
  • Professional Engineering license required.
  • Proficient in the use of PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, and PLS-POLE.
  • Ability to independently work through individual projects and also play a key role in broader projects.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail as well as ability to meet deadlines and complete assignments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Commitment to customer service and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
