Seasonal Unreal Engine Developer information

What is a seasonal Unreal Engine developer?

Seasonal Unreal Engine Developers are software professionals hired on a temporary or project-based basis, typically during peak production periods, to work with Unreal Engine. They are responsible for creating, modifying, and optimizing interactive 3D content, such as video games or simulations, using Unreal Engine’s tools and scripting languages. These developers often join teams for specific phases of a project, like game launches or updates, and bring specialized skills in areas such as real-time rendering, animation, and VR/AR development. Their contracts usually last for a few months, coinciding with high-demand seasons in the industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a seasonal Unreal Engine developer?

To thrive as a Seasonal Unreal Engine Developer, you need strong proficiency in C++ programming, 3D graphics, and a solid understanding of Unreal Engine’s architecture, typically demonstrated through a relevant degree or portfolio. Familiarity with source control systems like Git, visual scripting with Blueprints, and experience using version-specific Unreal Engine toolsets are crucial for the role. Excellent problem-solving, teamwork, and adaptability help developers quickly integrate into temporary teams and meet project deadlines. These skills ensure efficient content creation, code quality, and seamless collaboration in dynamic, fast-paced development environments.

What are some common challenges faced by seasonal Unreal Engine developers, and how can they be managed effectively?

Seasonal Unreal Engine Developers often face the challenge of quickly adapting to new project requirements and integrating into established teams on a tight timeline. They may need to familiarize themselves with existing codebases, workflows, and tools while meeting strict deadlines, especially during peak production periods. Effective communication, proactive learning, and leveraging documentation or support from full-time team members can help overcome these challenges. Flexibility and a strong foundation in Unreal Engine best practices are essential for success in these short-term, fast-paced roles.

What is the difference between Seasonal Unreal Engine Developer vs Unreal Engine Programmer?

Job description

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is hiring a Senior Enterprise Architect to work in Springfield, VA. Qualified candidates must be U.S. citizens with an active TS/SCI clearance and be eligible to obtain a CI Poly.
Responsibilities:
• Define and evolve the architecture framework underpinning a Digital Engineering Ecosystem (DEE) supporting our Intel customer.
• Owns the technical vision for how enterprise architecture, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and business intelligence layers integrate into a single governed, model-driven digital enterprise.
• Sets MBSE standards, lifecycle traceability approaches, and digital thread strategy, and works hands-on in high-impact areas to ensure the architecture remains open, standards-based, and vendor-neutral.
• Leads strategic-level meetings with government stakeholders and serves as a primary point of contact for technical and management issues of strategic importance to the program.
• Define and maintain the overall architecture framework, MBSE standards, and lifecycle traceability approach for the DEE, using UAF for enterprise-level modeling and SysML (v1 and emerging v2) for system-level semantics.
• Lead current-state capture and evaluation of the enterprise Digital Ecosystem - capabilities, IT assets, services, data types, interfaces, and data repositories - captured in UAF/SysML models as the initial enterprise baseline.
• Conduct tool trade studies and produce Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), weighing cost, security, license tier, cloud-native compatibility, interoperability, vendor agnosticism, and sustainment tail.
• Establish Model Based Enterprise Architecture (MBEA) practices enabling enterprise-wide modeling of capabilities, processes, systems, services, and data, extending into MBSE-driven Digital Twins.
• Drive interoperability between MBSE and Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) tools to establish Digital Threads linking capabilities across the lifecycle.
• Author and evolve enterprise current-state models, capability maturity assessments, and supporting architecture/requirements documentation.
• Partner with program leadership, engineering, and data architecture teams to align governance of enterprise architecture models, data models, metadata models, schemas, and ontology.
• Own and oversee all program governance activities, including model integrity standards, data consistency policies, and lifecycle alignment across the Digital Engineering, Data Layer, Cloud Native Platform, and Enterprise Architecture & BI swimlanes, ensuring cyber and security practices are integrated into each engineering discipline rather than siloed.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• 15+ years of enterprise architecture or systems engineering experience.
• Demonstrated hands-on expertise with UAF and SysML modeling, including tools such as Cameo Enterprise Architect, Teamwork Cloud, or comparable MBSE platforms.
• Experience developing Architecture Decision Records, tool trade studies, and capability/gap analyses for large, multi-organization enterprises.
• Strong understanding of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Model Based Enterprise Architecture (MBEA) principles and their application to Digital Twins.
• Possess deep familiarity with UAF and SysML modeling and the ability to lead current-state assessments and tool trade studies for a large, multi-organization enterprise.
Desired Qualifications:
• Experience supporting DoD, or Intelligence Community enterprise data or digital engineering programs.
• Familiarity with SysMLv2 and associated textual modeling/validation tooling (e.g., VS Code with SysIDE).
• Experience with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS Next and traceability/integration tools such as Syndeia.
• Exposure to Modeling, Simulation & Analysis (MS&A) tools such as AFSIM, STK, or Unreal Engine, and geospatial tools such as ArcGIS.
• INCOSE CSEP/ESEP or equivalent systems engineering certification.
Clearance Requirements:
• Must be a U.S. citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance and have the ability to pass a CI polygraph within 30 days.
The pay range for this position is $130,000 to $190,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. This posting will be renewed periodically until the position is filled.
