THE DIVISION OF ELECTIONS NEEDS YOU - BECOME A POLL WORKER!
Join thousands of Alaskans who help make our elections possible. As a poll worker, you'll play an important role in your community by helping ensure that every qualified voter has the opportunity to cast their ballot on Election Day.
Whether you've worked an election before or this is your first time, we'd love to have you on the team!
WHO CAN APPLY?
To serve as a poll worker, you must:

• Be a resident of Alaska
• Be a registered voter
• Be 18 years of age or older

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
Poll workers are the people who make Election Day happen!
Before the polls open at 7:00 a.m., you'll help prepare the polling place by setting up voting booths, posters, and signage, and getting the voting tablet and scanner ready, if used at your location.
Throughout the day, you'll:

• Welcome and assist voters
• Ensure voters sign the register and receive the appropriate ballot
• Assist voters with questioned ballots when needed
• Provide special needs ballots to authorized representatives
• Help voters use the voting tablet and scanner
• Answer questions and help keep the polling place running smoothly

When the polls close at 8:00 p.m., the work isn't quite over! Poll workers help count and tabulate ballots, document and package election materials, and deliver or send materials to the appropriate regional office.
It's a long day, but it's an important one, and you'll be part of the team that makes Alaska's elections work.
WHEN ARE POLL WORKERS NEEDED?
The 2026 General Election is Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
Poll workers must complete online training before Election Day and work on Election Day.
WHERE ARE POLL WORKERS NEEDED?
Everywhere!
Poll workers are needed in precincts across the entire state of Alaska.
WHAT DOES IT PAY?
You'll be paid for both training and your Election Day hours.
Poll Chair & Co-Chair: $20.50/hour
Other Poll Workers: $20.00/hour
Election Day is a full day of work. Poll workers typically work approximately 6:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.
Online training usually takes up to four hours.
Total compensation for the election is approximately $400.
