Job description

If you're looking for an opportunity to build hands-on cattle experience and learn from one of the nation's leading seedstock operations, this could be the perfect place to start. At Leachman Cattle, you'll work directly with elite seedstock cattle while gaining practical experience in animal care, cattle handling, health management, sale preparation, and ranch operations. This full-time temporary opportunity is designed for individuals who are eager to learn, willing to work hard, and interested in building a career in the beef industry.

This position is expected to last approximately nine months and provides extensive on-the-job training and real-world experience within a progressive seedstock operation.  We're looking for someone who can start as soon as possible and is excited to grow their skills in a fast-paced agricultural environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the daily care and handling of seedstock sale cattle.
  • Support cattle processing activities, health testing, and routine animal management procedures.
  • Pull, sort, and move cattle using low-stress handling techniques.
  • Assist with sale preparation activities, including grooming, clipping, photography, and videography.
  • Monitor cattle health and report concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain accurate animal inventory records and locations.
  • Assist with shipping, transportation, and cattle movements.
  • Help maintain barns, facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  • Participate in training opportunities and develop new skills within the operation.
  • Support other operational needs as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Interest in livestock, agriculture, beef production, or ranching.
  • Previous cattle experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and committed to animal welfare and safety.
