Position Function:
MSU Libraries seeks a detail-oriented, and service-focused individual to serve as Managing Editor. This role will manage the reviewing, processing, and publication of all graduate theses and dissertations, serving as a critical point of contact for all master's and doctoral students as they complete their degree requirements.

Office of Thesis and Dissertation
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist the Director of the Office of Thesis and Dissertation/Assistant Professor of Practice.
- Review theses and dissertations for formatting compliance based on the standards required by Mississippi State University.
- Lead workshops for Graduate Students to teach the process of submitting and using the templates for theses and dissertations.
- Provide effective customer service for students formatting their ETDs, as well as other faculty and staff.
- Offer face-to-face and online consultations to graduate students.
- Use the LIB 9010 Canvas Course to grade student progress in submission to ProQuest and Scholar's Junction (MSU's Institutional Repository).
- Stay up-to-date and provide assistance with Canvas, Banner, ProQuest, BePress (Scholar's Junction), Mac Computers, Camtasia, SnagIt, Microsoft Word and LaTex to help students with formatting and update templates as needed.
- Communicate with the Graduate School Office, Deans of Departments and Colleges, Graduate Coordinators, Faculty, and the Registrar's Office to support timely and efficient student graduation processes.
- Supervise and train student workers in the Office of Thesis and Dissertation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Management experience
- Experience in editing or technical writing
- Experience with digital archives
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, including styles and field codes
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
- Willingness and ability to learn complex workflows
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Ability to adjust priorities and procedures in a dynamic environment
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
- Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor
- Job frequently requires sitting, talking, hearing
- Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
