Seasonal stockers are employees hired for a temporary period, typically during busy seasons like holidays, to help stores manage increased inventory and customer demand. Their main responsibilities include unloading shipments, stocking shelves, organizing product displays, and ensuring the sales floor remains orderly. Seasonal stockers often work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to keep up with the fast pace of peak retail periods. These positions can be a good entry point into retail and may sometimes lead to permanent roles.

Retail Stock Associates work year-round, handling inventory, stocking, and customer assistance. While both roles involve stocking and require similar credentials, Seasonal Stockers focus on peak periods, whereas Retail Stock Associates have ongoing responsibilities.

What are the typical work hours and expectations for a Seasonal Stocker during busy retail periods?

Seasonal Stockers often work variable shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays to support increased inventory demands during peak seasons. The role typically involves unloading shipments, restocking shelves, and maintaining store organization. Flexibility and reliability are important, as schedules can change based on store needs. Teamwork is key, since Stockers collaborate closely with sales associates and managers to ensure shelves are stocked and the sales floor is customer-ready.

To thrive as a Seasonal Stocker, you need physical stamina, attention to detail, and basic math skills, often with a high school diploma or equivalent. Strong time management, teamwork, and communication skills help individuals adapt to fast-paced retail environments. These abilities ensure efficient stocking, accurate inventory, and excellent customer service during peak retail seasons.

  • Ability to learn new concepts and stay organized, maintaining a high level of attention to detail while multitasking (there are a lot of moving pieces and skunks headed in every direction!).

Requirements
  • Must be at least 16 years of age or older (We don't make the rules... or law).
  • You don't need to be an Olympic athlete, but you do need to be able to balance on a step stool or step ladder, lift up to 50 lbs., and work from floor to eye level.
  • Able to work in a cooler at an average temperature of 32 degrees (hey, at least it's not Antarctica).
