Sports Coach
Pay Rate: $24/hour

JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Regional Leader (GM or Director of Operations), the Sports Coach will oversee the designated site sports program within the Orange County region. The Sports Coach organizes all the required resources to effectively coach students on the seasonal sport. The Sports Coach must have a genuine interest in the growth and development of the students they support. Ensuring that Think Together students reach their potential takes a tremendous amount of hard work, flexibility, and commitment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists with preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition.
• Receives guidance and instruction from direct supervisor in general and specific coaching procedures, methods, and techniques.
• Assists as directed with the oversight of athletic training, strength, and conditioning workouts; provides technical support and training to athletes, as appropriate to the sport.
• Assists as specifically directed, in the recruitment of student-athletes.
• Assists in monitoring and supporting student-athletes in academic progress.
• Assists as appropriate in planning and arranging team games and tournaments.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Provide homework assistance, academic enrichment and physical activity, using curriculum and materials provided by the program.
• Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging that kids want to be in.
• Support students in making positive behavior choices and take disciplinary measures when appropriate.
• Engage children and youth by following, implementing, and assisting in creating lesson plans.
• Ensure student safety by assisting in set up, break down, and ongoing maintenance in an effort to keep the school or community site clean and orderly.
• Promote positive interactions between volunteers and students in accordance with child safety guidelines.
• Maintain student safety by taking roll and reviewing sign-in/ sign-outs for students and volunteers.
• Identify student needs and communicate to Site Coordinator, teachers, school administration, parents, and volunteers as appropriate.
• Commit to a full-year program, demonstrated by arriving on-time, every day and completing time cards appropriately.
• Participate in staff development activities.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE:
• Demonstrated experience and ability in leading sports events, practices, and inventory of equipment.
• Experience in coaching football, volleyball, soccer, and basketball
• Demonstrated ability in coaching youth and volunteer coaches in athletic competitions.
• Demonstrated experience leading groups of children with the ability to engage and inspire youth.
• Demonstrated commitment to serving the greater community.
• Motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
• Conceptual ability for the larger perspective with a strong attention to detail and multitasking.
• Experience interacting with diverse communities and the ability to integrate into and existing school community.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
Background Checks/Testing:
• Must pass Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting),
• provide a clear TB test
• Pass Advanced Math and English skills (K–8) testing
