SUMMARY
As a Mountain School Instructor, you'll guide guests of all ages-from toddlers to seniors-through the exhilarating world of snow sports. This role demands a unique blend ofmental agility,emotional intelligence, andphysical endurance. Your core mission is to ensure every guest in your care issafe, hasfun, andlearnsin a way that aligns with their personal goals and comfort levels.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Deliverengaging instructionthat requires quick thinking, emotional awareness, and the ability to assess and respond to diverse learning styles and physical capabilities.
- Providereal-time feedbackto guests, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm and encouraging under pressure.
- Uphold Snowbird and PSIA/AASI teach philosophies, which demand bothtechnical knowledgeandmental flexibility.
- Complete administrative tasks such as scheduling, incident reports, and client follow-ups withattention to detailandtimeliness.
- Participate in ongoingtraining sessionsandstaff meetingsto stay mentally sharp and aligned with Snowbird's instructional standards.
- Maintain ahigh level of physical readinessby ensuring your gear is functional and your body is prepared for the day's weather and terrain.

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE
- Ability to ski or ridesingle black diamond terrainin all but the most extreme conditions-requiringphysical strength,balance, andendurance.
- PSIA/AASI Certification and a commitment tocontinuous learningthrough workshops and personal development.
- 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience in instruction, coaching, or youth engagement.
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional resilienceto work with a wide range of personalities and age groups.
- Digital literacy for communication and scheduling tasks.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Regularly scheduled work shifts which may require being on-call. Schedules include working weekends and holidays.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work outdoors inextreme weather(cold, wind, sun, snow) for extended periods.
- Must be able to:
- Walk in ski/snowboard boots onslippery, uneven terrain
- Lift and carryup to 50 lbs
- Stand, bend, kneel, and move actively for long periods
- Performrepetitive physical motions(bending, kneeling, reaching)
- High-volume days and guest interactions may lead tomental fatigueandemotional stress-you'll need strongcoping strategiesand apositive mindset.
